See who won the broadribbons on day one of Great Southern Supreme Merino
A total of 268 sheep will grace the mat at this year's Great Southern Supreme Merino, which kicked off on Monday afternoon at the Bathurst showgrounds.
Day one began with the August-shorn junior classes, with large numbers contesting the super and ultrafine rings.
The judges at this year's event include Phil Hartwich, Mt Challicum Merinos, Ballyrogen, Vic in the ultrafine and superfine ring; James Ballinger, Waverly Downs, Delungra, in the fine ring; Craig Trickey, Coryule Merinos, Willowvale, Vic, in the fine/medium; Will Roberts, Victoria Downs Merinos, Morven, in the medium/strong; and associate judge Angus Campbell, Yarrawonga, Harden.

Ultrafine
Champion August-shorn Merino ram went to Conrayn A20452, exhibited by Conrayn Merinos, Berridale.
The ram came from the four tooth and over class, and finished ahead of the reserve from the two tooth and under in Grathlyn A20506, exhibited by Grathlyn, Hargraves.
Superfine
Conrayn was also successful in the early superfine classes, with Conrayn A20461, which came through the two tooth class, sashed champion.
He finished ahead of the reserve, Greenland A20418, exhibited by Greenland Merinos, Maffra, from the four tooth class.
Fine
Booroowa's Merryville stud claimed champion fine wool Merino ram with the four tooth Merryville A20296.
In reserve was Airlie A20025, exhibited by Airlie stud, Walcha, from the two tooth class.
Champion August-shorn fine wool Merino ewe went to Greenland A20439 from the two-tooth class.
Conrayn A20441, from the four tooth class, was reserve.
In the polled ram classes, Airlie 20022 was sashed champion. The ram came from the two tooth class.
Nerstane A20012, exhibited by Nerstane, Woolbrook, was reserve. He was also from the two tooth class.
Fine/Medium
Darbys Falls stud Lach River was sashed champion Merino ram. Lach River A20279 came from the four tooth and over class.
In reserve was the two tooth class winner, Merryville A20322.
In the Poll Merino ram section, Terrick West A37014, exhibited by Terrick West of Prairie, Vic, was sashed champion.
The two tooth finished ahead of the reserve, another two tooth in Thalabah A20643, exhibited by Thalabah Merinos, Laggan.
Medium/Strong
Thalabah went one better in the medium/strong Merino ram classes, with the two tooth Thalabah A20634 sashed champion.
In reserve was the four tooth, Lach River A20278.
In the August-shorn Poll Merino rams, Billa Burra Merinos, Bowning, was sashed champion with the two tooth, Billa Burra Burra A20246.
In reserve was Terrick West A37005, also from the two tooth and under class.
Judging continues on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the remaining August shorn classes, followed by the March shorns.
