Glenlea Beef sell Charolais females to repeat clients
There was good support from repeat clients at the Glenlea Beef Heart of the Herd Charolais female sale, held online on Friday.
In demand cows with calves sold to good competition with the first 25 lots averaging $5174 to eventually come to $4980 for 38 lots sold from 58 offered.
Glenlea Rebby 27th, by Glenlea Just Red from Rebby 21st, delivered the top bid of $10,500, selling to repeat clients Aussie Hardwood, Warradingo Charolais at Irrewarra, Vic.
The phenotypically correct cow with positive estimated breeding values for weight and carcase was DNA tested as homozygous polled.
She presented with a nugget of an eight month old bull calf, Quintus V457 at foot, and came pregnancy-tested-in-calf to the homozygous polled red factor sire, Waterford Red Rascal.
Rebby 27th gave birth to twin bull calves as a heifer.
A red-factor female bred from show champions, MAW Glenlea Gina 3rd, with heifer calf at foot, sold for $7500 for the opening bid to Mitch Redding, Moondoogundi Charolais at Lidsdale via Mudgee.
The oldest daughter of Glenlea Kowboy Red Q405 from Waterford Lady Gina L33E, she presented with a heifer calf showing good growth and muscle without a lot of birthweight.
The Glenlea stud's high-growth female in this sale, Glenlea Josie 15th, sold for $6500.
