The dryland properties within the portfolio are highly complementary and together offer scale and operational efficiency in one of Australia’s most cost-effective cropping regions.

Vendors Graeme and Leah Maxwell built the portfolio over the past 15 to 20 years and applied a simple but effective four-way rotation for the cropping business. “We grow faba beans, canola, wheat and barley which gives us very good weed control,” Graeme Maxwell says.
“The portfolio would suit a corporate investor or some of the local landholders who have neighbouring properties. At present it couldn’t look better, and we’re applying fertiliser and fungicide aerially to keep crops performing well.”
Approximately 88 per cent (3,672 hectares) of the Maxwell Ag Portfolio is arable land and receives annual rainfall of 499 millimetres. The 2026 cropping program has 1,212 hectares sown to canola, 528 hectares to wheat, 1,305 hectares to barley and 570 hectares to faba beans.

Efficient Production Systems
Operational efficiencies have been achieved through the strategic combination of the individual assets to provide a high-performing farming layout spanning a total 22 kilometres from east to west.
“We have taken out all internal fences on the properties, so that they are large, open paddocks with long runs ideally suited to large-scale dryland production,” Maxwell says.
