“Randwick” - Winton

Location:

Randwick is located just to the north-east of the Winton township. The property joins the Winton Airport, and the Winton Motorsports Park on it’s western boundary, and its southern boundary fronts onto the Landsborough highway, and Winton to Longreach rail corridor. The Winton-Eskdale gravelled road, runs along the eastern boundary of the property for approximately 7 km. The Randwick cattle yards are approximately 13km from the Winton saleyards.


Facilities/Services:

Mobile phone coverage, internet and the usual business and services that are accessible in a small rural Queensland town, are in Winton. The major road transit routes run through Winton to Longreach in the south, Boulia & Mount Isa to west and to Hughenden and Townsville to the north-east.

There are liveweight weighing of cattle at the Winton saleyards, as well as railway trucking yards. There is a flight to and from Townsville and Brisbane twice a week, as well as a daily bus service between Mount Isa and Brisbane via Winton.

Randwick is 100% usable, pebbly open downs country with approximately 2,000 ha of very good quality flood out Mills Creek channel country. The downs country has a very good mix of Mitchell and Flinders grass, as well a large variety of edible summer fattening herbages. There was recently a moderate flood across parts of the alluvial floodplains along the Mills creek channels, therefore the grass, including Buffel and summer herbages and vines are growing very well.

Randwick has a mix of trees along the channels such as Coolibah, Whitewood, Vinetree, Dogwood and Cattle Bush. There is a sprinkling of Parkinsonia trees as well as a solid infestation of Prickly Acacia across all paddocks on Randwick, although some areas are showing the signs of the vendors control spraying.

Waters:

The sub-artesian bore – RN 11267 was drilled in 1948 to a depth of 155 metres and then deepened in 1951 to 192 metres, with the standing water level at 36 metres. The borehole is equipped with a Grundfos 1.1Kw submersible pump connected to rural power. This bore has watered up to 450 head at any one time and has never been pumped out in 35 years of the vendors ownership.

The brackish bore water is piped to the yards and to troughs in the holding paddock and Channel paddock. Water is also pumped by a Davey 240V pump with pressure switch to a trough in Fish Hole and the northern end of Channel paddock. There is one dam and numerous seasonal waterholes in the channels that usually last for 3 to 9 months of the year depending on the timing and amount of rain that has fallen along the catchment for the channels.

Fencing & Yards:

The boundary fencing is best described as being in good to very good condition – a mix of 2 barbs and 4 plain, 3 barbs and 3 plain, 4 barbs, or 1 barb with ring-lock. The internal fencing is in good condition, except for the division fence between Aerodrome and 5 Mile paddocks which needs replacing. There are four main paddocks and 2 small holding paddocks.

The portable steel cattle yards are in good condition and complete with a 4-way pound draft, crush, loading ramp and calf cradle, as well as water piped to yard trough.

Hut & Buildings:

There is a one-bedroom, air-conditioned hut on the property and a lockable 6 x 12 metre shed with 3-metre skillion, which is fully concreted and has a rainwater tank on concrete pad.

Livestock & Plant:

Randwick was de-stocked in mid-December, therefore giving the purchaser immediate livestock access on the signing of an unconditional contract and payment of the deposit.

At the inspection, there will be a full list of plant and equipment that will be included in the sale.
