Complete clearance at Jamar Santa Gertrudis sale lifts average to $17,450

In line with many other Santa Gertrudis sale outlets, average values climbed over last year's figures at the annual Jamar Santa Gertrudis sale on Monday, September 28.

Vendors Tony and Louise Prentice, Jamar stud, Comet, achieved yet another complete clearance resulting in a gross of $890,000 for the 51 bulls sold, culminating in a bottom-line average of $17,450.

This was an increase of $1086 per head when compared with the 2025 result where 55 bulls averaged $16,364 for a gross of $900,000.

Classified bulls hit $32,000 while their purebred counterparts topped at $20,000.

Top seller, the $32,000 Jamar Winston W44 (P), sold to RF Active, Kaiuroo, Dingo.

Sired by Waco Morocco M674 (PP), the sale topper weighed 916 kilograms and had an average daily gain of 1.20 kilograms per day, recording an eye muscle area of 146 square centimetres and fat depth scans of 12mm and 10mm respectively for rib and rump measurements, and an intramuscular fat measurement of 6.1 per cent.

Two sold for sums of $30,000. The first of these was Jamar Waylon W10 (P), a 25-month-old by Yarrawonga Sniper S58 (IVF) (P).

The bull recorded a liveweight of 875kg and an average daily gain of 1.09kg, an EMA of 134sq cm, and fat depth scans of 11mm and 7mm respectively for rib and rump measurements.

He sold to Eddie Dennis and family, Twin Hills Cattle Company, Clermont.

Twin Hills took two for an average $29,000 with the other fetching 28,000 for a Jamar Trademark T04 (P) son aged 25 months.

The other at the $30,000 figure was Jamar Woodford W102, another of the Trademark sons aged 22-months.

He hit the scales at 970kg and posted an average daily gain of 1.35kg. He recorded an EMA of 142sq cm and fat depth scans of 14mm and 12mm respectively for rib and rump measurements.

Taking the bull and six others was Sean Dillon, Surbiton Station, Alpha, who ended with an average of $19,429.

That result included the 22-month-old, $28,000 paternal half-brother to the top seller in the form of Jamar Wyatt Earp W98 (P).

Rob and Dolly Servin, RTS Cattle Company, Anchor, Duaringa, made their presence felt, returning to take three from the catalogue at an average of $22,000. These topped at $28,000 for a 23-month-old son of Cardona Vino V23 (P).

Top selling purebred entry at $20,000 was a 23-month-old Jamar Trademark T04 (P) son selling to Comet Downs Cattle Trust, Comet Downs, Comet, who signed off on two for $20,000 each.

The Paine family, Myola, Springsure, took with them a trio for an average $22,000, topping at $28,000 for a 21-month-old 'PP' Jamar Rolex R06 (AI) (P) son.

Bob Murphy, Everton Station, Aramac, secured a pair for a $25,000 average that topped out at $26,000 for another of the Jamar Rolex R06 (AI) (P) sons.

Ian Masterson, Lochlea Station, Greenvale, took four bulls for an $11,000 average while Ian and Sarah Mylrea, Mylrea Pastoral Company, Pty Ltd, Coorabelle, Springsure ended their day with a card of five for an $18,000 average that topped at $22,000.

Setting an overall average of $20,667 for their three were Mark and Joyce Comiskey and family, Connemarra, Springsure. Their top was a $24,000 son of Yulgilbar Nashville N026 (AI) (P) aged 23 months.

Rodney Perrett and family, Bungawarra, Rolleston, took a pair for a $20,000 average that topped at $22,000.

The Rostron family, The Grove, Alpha, claimed a trio for a $13.333 average with their top being a $16,000 acquisition.
