Meldon Park Simmental bulls sell across the state with improved average

Bulls found homes right across Queensland and as far south as South Australia at this week's Meldon Park Simmental Sale, Rolleston Selling Complex.

In all 62 bulls set a $12,290 average topping at $30,000 to clear 96 per cent of the offering.

Last year 65 bulls topped at $30,000 for 95 per cent clearance at auction to set an average of $11,123.

Vendors, Rodney and Elisabeth Skene, Meldon Park stud, Dalby saw their sale topper, Meldon Park V48 (PP) (Mavstar Rawhide (PP) sell to South Australian address, Woonallee stud, Millicent, operated by Tom and Lizzy Baker.

The sale topper recorded a liveweight of 1126 kilograms at 22-months of age and delivered an eye muscle area measurement of 157 square centimetres and rib and rump measurements of 9 and 7 mm respectively along with an intramusclar fat reading of 5.4 per cent.

Last year the sale saw 65 bulls top at $30,000 for a 95 per cent clearance at auction to set an average of $11,123.
