Glendan Park average soars past $12,000 in Hereford and Angus offering

Glendan Park's 13th annual bull sale at Barfold on Friday saw a major lift in the average price and clearance rate.
Stud principal Alvio Trovatello and his daughter Alicia witnessed 67 of 70 bulls sell for an average of $12,029 and top at $28,000.
In the Angus breakdown, 37 of 38 sold to average $11,866, while 30 of 32 Hereford bulls averaged $12,223.
All bulls were cleared by the conclusion of the day.
This was well up on 2025 when 23 of 27 Herefords averaged $8173 and 30 of 37 Angus averaged $8133.

This year's sale topper was the Hereford bull, Glendan Park Verstappen V046, who sold to John and Juile Payne, Mulwala, NSW.
The father and daughter were excited about incorporating the bull into their commercial herd to strengthen and expand their black baldy bloodlines.
"[We were] just looking at his figures, numbers and temperament," Mr Payne said.
The 23-month-old was by Warwick Court Roma R111 and out of Glendan Park Marshall L P077 and was described in the catalogue as a "quiet achiever".
In total, there were three lots by feature Hereford sire Warwick Court Roma R111 that averaged $18,667.
The other popular Hereford sire line was Quamby Plains Reagent R61, with eight lots averaging $11,000.

The sale-topping Angus bull was Glendan Park Vantage V64 at $26,000, paid by father-and-son duo Kevin and Andrew Battersby, Strzelecki.
Vantage V64 was a 19-month-old son of Baldridge Sr Goalkeeper and Witherswood Essay Erice M0207, described as "a big, powerful bull who is good on the move".
The bull will begin stud duties for autumn and spring joinings at the Battersbys' two operations, Battersby Angus and Midnight Angus, where he will join their respective stud cow herds.
The pair said they were looking for quality.
"[We] came up to buy a good bull," Kevin said.

The sale attracted a large turn-out of both returning and new clients.
Bulk buyer Mooree Partnership, Harrow, bought 10 bulls, including nine Angus and one Hereford, for an average of $10,500.
Even producers impacted by the Longwood/Ruffy fires made the effort to attend, showing their support to Glendan Park.
Alicia said their clients were seeing confidence in the industry and what the Glendan Park genetics could do for their herd.
"A lot of our bulls this year in both breeds are by new sires, which is good for our clients too, to give them the genetic diversity but still the type we breed for them," she said.
The sale was conducted by Elders and Nutrien.
