Repeat clients returned to take the top bull from Duck Island Composite's three-day online sale through AuctionsPlus last week.

Lot 7, Duck Island 24TUU, was purchased for $9500 by last year's top bidder Rowan Douglas, St George, Qld.

Mr Douglas also purchased an additional five bulls.

Overall, 10 of the 24 offered composite bulls from the Keith-based stud, were sold to a top of $9500 and average of $6100.

Landscape Beef Pty Ltd (Duck Island) manager Stuart Rivaz said while they would have liked to sell a few more, they were happy with the result.

"Duck Island Composites don't tend to fit in the purebred mould that some are after...the people that buy our bulls are repeat customers, which is nice to know," Mr Rivaz said.

"They are obviously getting the extra productivity from their purchases of Duck Island sires."

The top bull was Lot 7, Duck Island 24TUU weighing in at 770kg, and with measurements including an eye muscle area of 113. His DNA was half Angus, 39 per cent Black Simmental and the rest Poll Hereford.

Lot 2, Duck Island 24WMA, an AI-bred bull was sired by Franchise and weighed in at 768kg, he was purchased for $7000 and will make his way to Victoria.

Bulls sold will go to Queensland (6), two to Victoria and two will head to Kingston in the state's South East.

"The bulls that we breed, we are doing it to service our self-replacing herd but it is pleasing to see our regular clients continuing to appreciate the quality of our offering," Mr Rivaz said.

"I found it very difficult to pick a favourite this year out of our bulls, there was a fair line of quality animals."

With 127 registered bidders online from Tasmania to Queensland and Victoria, they also had 84 guest viewers.

Mr Rivaz said they were happy with what they had produced for their clients and the overall result.

"We will possibly sell another five to 10 between now and when people are ready to mate," he said.

This was the stud's fourth successful online auction.
