Simmental bull takes February All Breeds first day honours at Gracemere

A Simmental bull outshone 10 other breeds on the first day of this year's February All Breeds Bull and Female sale on Monday, February 9.
Simmental bulls topped $45,000, their Brahman counterparts sold to a top of $42,000 while Droughtmaster bulls hit $38,000 on the opening day of the two-day sale at CQLX, Gracemere.
The first day showcased 11 breeds and composites that saw averages across the board and clearance levels surge compared to the previous year's result.
On day one, 134 bulls sold of the 175 offered for a clearance of 77 per cent and an average of $9127.
Of the 33 heifers offered, 30 sold for a clearance rate of 91pc for an average of $4717.
The sale gross for day one was $1,364,500.
In 2025, the opening day produced a result where 128 bulls averaged $5809 to top at $20,000 posting a 63 per cent clearance at auction, while 32 heifers set a $4188 average to produce a top of $8000 ending with a 59pc clearance rate.
This year, the top-selling bull for the day was the 928 kilogram, 28-month-old, Cannon Dee Ugo (P) offered Cannon Dee stud, Chinchilla.
Taking the sale topper for their new prefix was the Ehrlich family, Hinchley Pezzatarossa Simmental stud, Wandoan.
Top for the females was the $12,000, Brahman entry, Nivlag J Queen Of Stone (PS), a 23-month-old grey offered by the Galvin family, Nivlag stud, Goovigen.
