Northern producers, WA supporters buy up a storm at 5 Star Senepol bull sale

Another complete clearance of 65 bulls was attained at Monday's annual 5 Star Senepol Sale at CQLX, Gracemere.

A three state buyers panel supported the catalogue with solid demand from producers across a wide geographical area with intense online support.

Geoff and Alison Maynard and family, 5 Star stud, Jambin saw a complete clearance with their Senepol bulls reaching $30,000 on the way to setting a $9027 average while Senegus male counterparts hit $13,000 twice setting a $9100.

The combined totals saw a total clearance at auction for a bottom-line average of $9038.

In 2024, Senepol bulls reached $28,000 on the way to setting a $12,018 average while Senegus male counterparts hit $16,000 to set a $11,333 average and Senelais bulls made to $17,000 to average $12,166.

Sale topper in 2025 at $30,000 was 5 Star 240637 purchased by repeat clients, Mark Bettini, Bettini Beef, De Gray Station, Port Headland, Western Australia.

Operating through Elders, this was Bettini Beef's only purchase at the sale.

The 23-month-old youngster produced a scale weight of 724 kilograms, delivering muscle scans of 12mm and 9mm, respectively, for P8 and rib fat, 131 square centimetres for eye muscle area, and 6.2 per cent for intramuscular fat.

The top seller was ranked in the top 15 per cent for rebreed GBV and the top five per cent for all three growth indices.

Long-term supporters, Alistair and Jo McClymont, Burleigh Station, Richmond, were again active, securing another three for a $15,500 average. These topped at $22,500.

Another to return was Moree, NSW, based Gulf Coast Agriculture Company, Vanrook Station, Yagoonya ending with a card containing six purchases for on average $6333.

Placing a solid floor in the market was Lorraine Pastoral Company, Lorraine Station, Cloncurry ending their day with 10 for a $9700 average.

Scott McClymont, Rosella Plains, Mt Garnant claimed five to average him $9000. This result included the equal top selling Senegus Khartoum Pastoral Company, Tarangie Station, Charters Towers purchased four for on average $7250.

Liam Kirkwood, Ray White Townsville, acting for Shannon Vale, Home Hill, picked up a trio for on average $8000.

Long term supporters, Phil and Fiona Corlis family, Glengalla Station, Richmond returned to take six for a $9333 average.

Chris Simpson, CAP Genomics, Harlin also returned to secure another two at an average $9000 while Adam and Jacynta Coffey, Boreelum, Miriam Vale selected three to average them $7000.

Clayton Maynard, Southern Star Rural, Jonaron, Canowindra, NSW secured the $14,000, 5 Star 240904 ranked in the top 14 per cent for rebreed GBV.

Carl Greaves, Brisbane acting for Helen Springs Station, NT secured four Senegus entries for an average $9000 toping at $13,000.

Shane and Amanda Watts, Sonoma Station, Collinsville signed off on two Senegus bulls for a $9000 average.

Greg and Carol Ryan, TMB Rural Contracting, Green Hills Station, Georgetown, bought two for a $9000 average.
