The Nobbs families celebrated 44 years of selling at Moura on Friday, September 19, with a catalogue that attracted repeat buyers across central Queensland.

The five family prefixes, including Cordelia, Cordelia P, Garwin, Lyndhurst, and Yoman, presented a line of grey and red Brahman, Charbray, and Brangus bulls.

A total of 84 bulls were offered, with 73 sold to gross $723,000 and average $9904, achieving a clearance rate of 86.9 per cent.

The clearance rate was notably stronger than the 2024 sale when 64 of 80 bulls sold for an 80pc clearance, $7484 average, and $479,000 gross, with a 32pc lift in the average, a 44.5pc increase in gross, and a stronger clearance rate year-on-year.

In a further breakdown of the sale, 46 grey and red Brahman bulls sold to a top of $26,000 and averaged $8674, eight Brangus bulls averaged $7125 with a top of $13,000, and 19 Charbray bulls sold to a top of $32,000, averaging $14,053.

The $32,000 sale topper was Cordelia 395, a Charbray bull by Cordelia 390/1 and from a selected Cordelia Charbray cow.

He was purchased by Cathy and Ashlyn Hoare from Rockview Cattle Company near Bluff for $32,000.

Cordelia 395 weighed 910 kilograms, scanned an eye muscle area of 134 square centimetres, measured 14mm P8 and 10mm rib fat, recorded 6.1pc intramuscular fat, and had a scrotal circumference of 42cm.

Mrs Hoare said she and daughter Ashlyn were thrilled to secure both their picks of the catalogue, paying $32,000 and $24,000.

"We run about 300 Charbray cows in a commercial herd, and we were chasing growth, bone, and weight for age," she said.

"We've had terrific results from the Cordelia Charbray bulls in the past.

"Normally, we get outbid by Chas at other sales - but this time we knew he couldn't outbid us at his own, so we managed to secure the bulls we wanted."

The second-top bull was Garwin R48, by a multisired bull and out of a Garwin purebred Brahman cow, who sold for $26,000 to long-time supporters, the Connolly family, Theodore.

Garwin R48 weighed 908kg, scanned an EMA of 141 square centimetres, measured 11mm P8 and 8mm rib fat, recorded 4.8pc IMF, and had a scrotal circumference of 38 centimetres.

Cordelia stud principal Chas Nobbs said the sale result was a milestone for the family, marking the highest top price and average that the sale had achieved in 44 years of selling at Moura.

"Last year's $24,000 top price was the highest we had achieved before this year," Mr Nobbs said.

Bulk buyer of the day was Ingelara Grazing, who purchased seven bulls for an average spend of $9000.

The McIntyre family of McIntyre Cattle Company, Theodore, also strongly supported, securing six bulls for an average of $7500.
