A "stellar sire prospect" has sold for six figures at the Greenup Eidsvold Station Sale today, September 18.

Greenup Apollo V222 sold for $120,000 to the Bassingthwaighte family, Yarrawonga Cattle Co, Wallumbilla via phone bidding.

He was shifted forward in the catalogue from lot 81 to the first bull through the ring.

The homozygous polled bull was a trait leader for growth and carcase weight estimated breeding values, and was described as impressive by vendors Rick and Alice Greenup in the catalogue.

"If superior weight for age is your objective - then mark this bull down," the catalogue said.

He was by Eidsvold Station Napoleon N888 and out of Greenup Clover P79, who calved as a two-year-old.

She had another four calves in four years and was pregnancy-tested-in-calf.

His temperament was also highly praised.

In 2024, the sale saw 116 bulls sell to a top of $32,000 averaging $9773 and grossing more than $1.1 million.
