First lot at Glenlands annual bull sale sells for six figures to Clermont buyer

The Glenlands bull sale has already reached six-figure prices for the first lot of the day; a 25-month-old Droughtmaster bull from the renowned Glenlands D Bells 'n' Whistles dam line.
The first 10 bulls of the sale averaged $74,500 with a high of $200,000 achieved for Glenlands D Game Changer.
He sold to returning buyers Richard and Robyn Simmons of Simmons Pastoral Group, Avon Downs, Clermont, at the Bouldercombe selling centre on Thursday, September 18.

Offered by Darren and Helen Childs of Glenlands D prefix, Theodore, the bull was sold with a three-quarter share and full possession after opening bidding at $20,000.

The 25-month-old sire, bred from Glenlands D Alabama and Glenlands D Bells 'n' Whistles, weighed 1045 kilograms, had a 40-centimetre scrotal circumference, 14mm and 10mm scans for P8 and rib fat, a 160 square centimetre eye muscle area, and 6.4 per cent intramuscular fat.
He recorded an average daily weight gain of 1.37 kilograms.
In the comments in the catalogue, Darren and Helen Childs considered Game Changer's dam as the best they had bred to date.
"We consider this cow the best we have bred to date, a true cornerstone female," their comments read.
"After a stellar show career which included multiple regional, feature and RNA championships she has now recorded 62 progeny through IVF and natural matings, some of which include the record priced bull, Everest to the Samari Stud for $320,000, English Rose for $70,000 (Rondel Stud), retained sons El Paso and Goodbye Earl, Eureka sold for $120,000 (Lochview Stud) and Ei-Ei-O (Maclands Stud) for $50,000.
"An in-utero pregnancy sold at Beef Australia 2024 for a record price of $40,000 to Smity's stud."
Four of her sons were in this year's sale draft; Game Changer, Guns 'n' Roses (lot 12), Goodnight Saigon (lot 95), and Green Lantern (lot 119).
In other major early sales, lot nine, Glenlands J Grandchester sold for $120,000 again to Richard and Robyn Simmons of Simmons Pastoral Group, Avon Downs, Clermont.
The underbidder was an online buyer from Cloncurry.
The 23-month-old was sired by Glenlands J Distinction and out of Glenlands J 16725.
He was calf champion bull at the Rockhampton Show in 2024, reserve junior champion bull at Brisbane in 2024, junior champion bull at Alpha Show 2025, and reserve junior champion bull at Rockhampton, Capella and Baralaba shows in 2025.
Lot 11, Glenlands D Grand Slam, sold for $100,000 to Kiernan and Company.
