The dispersal of Tandara Angus at North Dorrigo on Saturday attracted a diversity of bidders, who had the pick of good genetics and good buying.

Tandara principal Godfrey Darling will now pivot the enterprise to trade cattle, selling heifers pregnancy tested in calf.

Of 25 bulls offered 17 sold to average $7705 and top at $10,000 for the yearling Tandara Vagabond V42, by Booroomooka Paragon T12 from a daughter of Mogck Entice.

Cows with progeny at foot sold to a 100 per cent clearance, averaging $6638 and reaching a peak of $11,500 for Tandara Retro R24 by JMB Traction from a daughter of Deer Valley All In, selling to James Millner, Blayney, who will use her in a Charolais cross program.

Of the heifers 20 of 21 sold to average $4100 and top at $6000.

The top-priced bull, suitable for heifers, sold to long-standing loyal clients Graham Holden and Alison Raymond, Dorrigo, who have bought two Tandara sires a year for the past nine seasons.

Former Clermont, Qld, graziers Mick Duckett and Emma Robinson, now at Wollomombi, bought six Tandara bulls, all at $6000 including Tandara Quarterback V6 from Murdeduke Quarterback, from an Entice daughter.

The family will grow out progeny to processing weight.

"We bought four bulls last year, and they were all capable. They have good calving ease and good growth without the extremes," Mr Duckett said.

The top-selling proven stud cow, with calf, at $7500 was Tandara Mogck Entice T27 by Mogck Entice from a daughter of Deer Valley All In, purchased by Mark Lucas from Rennylea Angus stud. She presented with estimated breeding values including top eight per cent of the breed in growth, milk and carcase weight while offering an intra muscular fat EBV score of +3.

The majority of the Tandara stud heifers were sold before the sale to a family acquaintance, Peter Pether, who is setting up the Angus stud Omeo at Gulgong. His father, Norm, breathed life into the Farrer studs, pioneered the White Suffolk breed, and sold a stud at Breeza to Godfrey and Irene Darling, before their next life stage at Dorrigo.

The sale was hosted by Nutrien Ag Solutions Armidale with Harry Phillips as the selling agent. AuctionsPlus handled the online bidding.
