Repeat and new clients bid well for bulls with carcase performance and proven longevity during the Rosskin Angus annual sale at Dalgety.

Of the 39 Angus bulls offered, 35 sold to average $9558 with a top of $18,000.

The top priced sire was Rosskin Stellar U72, 886 kilograms at two years old, by Sitz Stellar 726D from a Rosskin Mae K64 that has been a prominent donor cow in the herd.

Rosskin Stellar U72 went to Will Nicholls and Deanne Baines, Ruby Hill Partnership at Walcha, who were the volume buyers on the day, taking home seven sires to average $11,857.

The repeat clients, who recently moved from Kybeyan Station at Nimmitabel to Walcha, where they are currently breeding up Angus numbers, also paid $16,000 for the 880kg Rosskin Resilient U66, by Sitz Resilient 10208 and from Rosskin Jedda R65.

"We like these bulls' longevity," said Mr Nicholls, who noted that one Rosskin sire was still performing after a decade in the paddock.

"They have good feet. They're solid. They produce a good calf. They are everything we want in a bull to produce quality Angus replacement heifers."

Selling for $15,000 was Rosskin New Ground V10, weighing 722kg at 17 months, by Landfall New Ground N90 from Rosskin Carla S56.

Rosskin New Ground V10 sold to another repeat client, Angus weaner producer Glen Ingram, Wongadell at Dellicknora, Vic.

"I liked the figures for New Ground V10," he said. "He is well put together and was well presented, considering the season. All bulls were in immaculate condition off grass."

Three bulls sold for $14,000, including a son of S Powerpoint WS 5503 in Rosskin Powerpoint U26, weighing 1006kg at two years old, purchased by the Callan family, Farringdon Pastoral via Braidwood.

Long-time clients Rex and Greg Tett from Cobargo, who lost plenty during the horrific 2019/2020 bushfires, returned to Dalgety this year to purchase two bulls in Rosskin Paratrooper U50 for $14,000 and Rosskin Nectar U38 at $8,000.

The sale was hosted by Nutrien Ag Solutions, Cooma with Gary Evans as selling agent and Matt Campion as Auctioneer with Nutrien Studstock.
