Stellar draft selected for the 20th anniversary of the Roma Brangus Sale

A high-quality combined draft has been selected for the 20th Roma Brangus Sale to be held at the Roma Saleyards from 10am on Friday, September 5.
In all, 110 lots have been catalogued for the 2025 sale by 21 returning vendors. This year's draft consists of 94 registered and herd bulls and 16 registered females.
Sale chair Sue Fawcett said the vendors had doubled their efforts to ensure only the best of their best bulls were nominated for the Roma Brangus catalogue.
"This has been reflected in the uniform, high standard of the animals in this year's draft," Ms Fawcett said.
She said the central location of the Roma Saleyards had been a major advantage for the sale across two decades.
"We usually have buyers attend from as far south as New South Wales, and all places in between, while Central Queensland buyers continue to strongly support the sale."
For the 2024 sale, 68 per cent of the 120 lots offered sold to an average of $8140, and topped at $28,000.
"I believe the sale average in 2024 was better than it was in 2023. Store sale results have been much improved this year compared to 2024, and most in the region have enjoyed a fairly good season, with their cattle holding up well. These factors lend us hope for a better 2025 sale day result."
Those wanting to get a good look at the lots in the sale are invited to attend a bull walk from 4pm on Thursday, September 4, at the saleyards.
Following the bull walk, a 20th anniversary dinner for the sale will be held at the White Bull Tavern in Roma from 6pm. For this special event, past and present sale committee members will unite, with all interested parties welcome to attend on the night.
By sale day, all registered animals will have had a Brangus genomics bundle (50K or 100K SNP, PV, poll/horn and coat tests) completed.
All bulls will have been tested by an ACV-accredited vet for a veterinary bull breed soundness evaluation, including a semen test, will have recorded a crush side semen test result of 60 per cent or above, and have achieved a minimum qualifying pass morphology result.
The purchaser of the highest-priced bull, and the highest volume buyer on sale day, will each receive 50 NLIS tags donated by Datamars/Zee Tags.
Those who're unable to attend the sale in person can bid online via Stocklive.
The catalogue can be viewed online on the Australian Brangus Cattle Association website and Stocklive.
