Hardigreen Park Santa Gertrudis stud ends 50 years of breeding at final sale
With the sale of the Hardigreen Park Santa Gertrudis stud to Yugilbar Santa Gertrudis stud, Baryulgil on the upper Clarence River, the Wallabadah stud had its final bull sale, farewelling more than 50 years of breed support, manager Col Patterson said.
Hardigreen Park shared its final annual sale with Armidale's Brookside Santa Gertrudis, with 25 of 36 bulls selling to a top price of $32,500, averaging $10,700, while pregnancy-tested-in-calf heifers sold to $6000, averaging $4000. Five passed in bulls were sold after the auction.

The sale-topper was Brookside Universal 3697, sired by Brookside Yogie 3258, out of a Brookside Sampson 3239 female.
Aged 23 months, the bull weighed 850 kilograms, had an eye muscle area of 138 square centimetres and had a great intramuscular fat percentage of 6.1pc. Its scrotal size was 40.5 centimetres, and its motility and morphology percentages were 70 and 94 per cent, respectively.
Ben Adams, Dangarfield Santa Gertrudis, Taroom, Queensland, was the buyer and made the long trek south to buy genetics that had served him well before.
"We had a Brookside bull years ago and it delivered some magnificent daughters for us," Mr Adams said.
"They stayed in the herd for a long time, and we always tried to get our hands on another one, and the opportunity came up.
"He's an outcross for us, and just ticks a lot of boxes."
He said the bull was pretty complete, had good muscle and intramuscular fat percentage and was a good type with numbers that stacked up well.
Another bull that sold well for Brookside was Utah 3696, sired by Brookside Rocky 3363, out of a Yarrawonga Dunkirk J1362 female.

Aged 23 months and weighing 896kg, Rocky was bought by Ian Heckendorf, Auburn Santa Gertrudis, Trangie. It had an EMA of 131sq cm, and IMF of 6pc and a SS of 42cm.
Bulls from the Hardigreen Park stud sold to a top of $18,000 twice.
Blackall, Qld,stud breeder Liz Allen, Forest Park Santa Gertrudis stud, bought Hardigreen Park Bonus U6, a son of Diamond H Valuer, which was a reserve junior champion bull at the 2019 Royal Queensland Show.
The other top Hardigreen Park sale, Hardigreen Park U8, another Valuer son, was bought by Santa Gertrudis Bundarra commercial breeders Tracey and Robert Doak, Drogheda.
Clematis Pastoral Company, Guyra, was the volume buyer at the sale with five bulls to a top of $10,000, averaging $8200, while Matt and Heidi Cumming, Inverell, bought three bulls to a top of $10,000, averaging $7333.
