One family has won supreme exhibit and both grand champions in the Murray Grey judging at the 2025 Royal Queensland Show, with three generations in the running.

Fifteen-year-old Amelia Taylor-Rose won the John F Sturgeon medal for supreme Murray Grey exhibit with her cow and calf entry, Baroona Park Seraphina, on Saturday, August 9.

A total of seven exhibitors showed 18 head through the ring at the RNA Showgrounds, including five head from the Taylor family.

Ms Taylor-Rose, based at Wyreema, said it was a comeback year for Baroona Park Seraphina, who took a break from the Ekka in 2024 to produce her second calf.

"I am pretty happy with the win," she said.

"Baroona Park Seraphina traces back to a very good cow line from Baroona Park Sarah, who produced Ekka winners.

"Seraphina won grand champion female at the Ekka in 2023, and is on to her third calf now.

"The plan is to keep on showing her and using her for breeding.

"In terms of my own stud [Amelia Park Murray Greys], I now have a herd of 10 to 15 breeders.

"I am targeting good depth and length."

The winning cow was by Tullibardine Jeopardy, out of Baroona Park Serenity, and was four years and five months old at the time of writing.

Judge and Barana Simmental stud principal Peter Cook, Coolah, NSW, said she had plenty of width and depth.

"A breeding herd needs strong cows, and that's one reason I have given her the win.

"She is great from head to shoulder, hip to pin, and has plenty of thigh."

Ms Taylor-Rose's grandparents, David and Sally Taylor, won grand champion bull with their 20-month-old home-bred Baroona Park Trojan.

He weighed 838 kilograms, with an eye muscle area of 122 square centimetres, P8 and rib fat measurements of 12 and nine millimetres.

Ms Taylor, based at Umbiram, said Baroona Park Trojan's cowlines also traced back to perennial champion-breeder Baroona Park Sarah.

"He was by Monterey Jurassic, from a very reliable Murray Grey stud in Western Australia," Ms Taylor said.

"Our plan is to use him in our stud herd and then sell him."

Ms Taylor said it was wonderful to see her granddaughter win supreme champion.

"We have been exhibiting at the Ekka since 1990," Ms Taylor said.

"The quality of cattle has been there every year.

"People have started to go for bigger frame and bigger overall size more recently."

Judge Peter Cook said Baroona Park Trojan was a very well-rounded bull.

"He has a strong sirey head, good muscle pattern, tidy sheath and good testicles," Mr Cook said.

"He stands on good feet and legs too, with a natural ability to walk."
