Emotions run high as Ekka interbreed Champion of Champions winners named

There was a strong dominance from NSW in the results from this year's Champion of Champions interbreed judging at the Ekka.
Queensland's Spencer Morgan from The Grove Shorthorns at Condamine worked alongside Marty Lill from Chadwick Downs Cattle Company at Coonabarabran, NSW, and David Smith of Ben Lomond, NSW, to award the best pair, male and female at the interbreed level today.
Female interbreed

It was the Angus breed that took out the female interbreed for 2025.
The winning Angus cow was Diamond Elas Miss Legend T413, exhibited by CL Fuller and GJ Iseppi, Diamond Angus, Cowra, NSW.
She was sired by Var Legend 5019 and out of Witherswood Ela K192.
Exhibitor Christie Fuller said after the breed ring win that she was over the moon, joking that until her big win today, Diamond Elas Miss Legend T413 had been the bridesmaid but never the bride.
"She won the interbreed cow at Dubbo, at the show back in May," Ms Fuller said.
"She was also second to the Hordern Trophy cow at Sydney, so she's had a pretty short show career.
"She was never shown as a heifer."
Male interbreed

The Hereford breed took out the top spot in the bull class this year.
Te-Angie Turbo, Te-Angie Poll Herefords, Wongwabinda, NSW, was awarded the broad ribbon.
Breed pair
The breed pair was awarded to the Red Angus pair, both exhibited by the same stud.
Kirrily Johnson-Iseppi, GK Livestock, St Ruth, Qld, took out the breed pair category with bull GK NCJ Red Valyrian V1, and female GK Red Cherok M17 T15.
Unsurprisingly, the passionate Red Angus breeder dominated the breed ring on Saturday, August 9.
After her success in the breed ring, Ms Johnson-Iseppi said the breed was 'coming into their own'.
Ms Johnson-Iseppi said the Red Angus breed had been gaining traction in recent years.
"The Red Angus breed has flown under the radar, but they can do everything an Angus can do, but with a unique colour coat," she said.
"They're really coming into their own."
