Day two of Southern Beef Week continues in the South West Slopes

As the wet weather keeps rolling in, The Land 2025 Southern Beef Week continues with studs on display for day two in the South West Slopes and Gundagai regions.

On day three, the event will head to the Central West to incorporate properties around Dunedoo, Mendooran, Gilandra and Stubbo, before moving on day four to studs between Parkes, Cowra and Orange.

Day five includes the Central Tablelands, while the final day will involve properties located from the Southern Highlands to the Monaro.

Bannaby Angus - Bendick Murrell

Glynn Langford (pictured above) and the team at Bannaby Angus, Bendick Murrell, will have on display this year's 81 sale bulls at their Bendick Murrell-based operation.

The program focuses on calving ease, strong growth, superior carcase characteristics and structural correctness throughout the herd.

In this year's draft of bulls, there will be many options for heifer bulls recommended by the stud themselves, with sons of Alpine Real Deal R163, Chiltern Park Moe M6 and Millah Murrah Rebrandt R48 on offer, as well as international sires Ellingson Three Rivers 8062 and Baldridge 38 Special.

KO Angus - Darbalara

Founded in 1993, KO Angus, Darbalara, near Gundagai will be holding their 29th Spring bull said on Friday August 22.

Offering 80 bulls, this sale draft will consist of sons of Baldridge Versitile, Poss Deadwood, HPVC Veracious, Alpine Real Deal, Woodhill Comstcok and Sterling Pacific.

This year the sale will also include 10 herdbook registered heifers, including the first daughter of the KO Teleporter T243, who sold for $100,000 in the stud's 2023 sale to the registered syndicate Teleporter Partnership.

Milong Angus - Berthong

The Day family at Milong Angus has started to see some crops emerging out of the ground with some much-needed rain after a long dry spell.

William Day, Milong Angus, Berthong, will have 42 sale bulls available for inspection from some of the program's reference sires, including Raff Jovial J350, Raff Mustang Q343, Texas Maverick S35, Sitz Resilient, Sitz Tailor Made, Crawford P407, Milong S138, and Milong 83.

Mr Day said the stud has had success taking bulls up to Hughenden Show, Qld and selling bulls with growing interest in their northern buying gallery due to existing valued clients in the area.

Benell Poll Herefords - Bendick Murrell

Bendick Murrell-based stud, Benell Poll Herefords, owned by Michelle Slavin, has introduced some modern genetics into the program to align with the industry's evolving trends and moderate frame types.

The operation focuses on breeding high-quality females with strong mothering traits and easy doing ability, weaning above-average-weight calves.

Sires are chosen for eye-appeal, structure and backed by solid Breedplan data. The stud will have on display bulls and heifers sired by New Zealand sire Koanui Layer, as well as Yarawa South Poilt.

Kenny's Creek Angus - Boorowa

Kenny's Creek Angus is a commercially focused beef operation, producing structurally sound, fertile cattle with strong carcase merit.

The program vision spans from genetics to carcase, with a focus on maximising return per hectare for commercial producers.

As part of the stud's Beef Week display, will be some of the operation's two-year-old sale bulls available for inspection. Sires represented throughout the draft include Landfall New Ground N90, Dunoon Prime Minister P578, Clunie Range Plantation P392, Karoo Realist and Murdeduke Quarterback.

Springwaters Angus - Boorowa

On Cunningar road, south-west of Boorowa, Dane, Lisa, Dennis and Jo-Anne Rowley, Springwaters Angus and Poll Dorset stud, will have 40 bulls on display as part of Beef Week, which will be offered in the operations sale on September 1.

The draft will feature 20 sons of the studs herd sire Millah Murrah Rector R53. This year the stud will be offering a line of 18-month-old bulls in addition to the yearling bull program.

The Rowley family focuses on breeding bulls for softness, type and consistency, with 60 per cent of embryo transfer programs offering progeny.

Redbank Angus - Cowra

Over the years, Cowra-based Redbank Angus have carefully selected female lines to give pedigrees that are on the forefront of the Angus beef industry.

Some of the female lines present in the sale bulls include Millah Murrah Flower, Millah Murrah Brenda, Millah Murrah Prue, Vermont Dream Y301, Blackbird, Te Mania Lowan, Bara and more.
