A striking 60-lot draft has been catalogued for Warren and Lana Stiff's fourth annual Broadwater Angus on-property sale to be held at Broadwater, Warwick, on Friday, September 5, from 1pm.

On offer this year will be 50 bulls consisting of 30 rising two-year-old bulls and 20 yearlings aged 17 to 18-month-old.

Mr Stiff said these are soft bulls with natural muscling, moderate frames and carrying the "most progressive genetics".

"We aim to produce bulls with the ability to breed progeny with low to moderate birthweight, strong growth and favourable carcase characteristics, which are suitable for finishing on grass or grain. We strongly believe that we can add real value to beef breeding operations," he said.

This year, the Stiffs are excited to market the product of their recent ET programs bred from what they consider to be some of their best females.

"We will list sons of Texas Iceman, G A R Greater Good, Poss Winchester, and Poss Deadwood, among others."

He said tailored joinings through ET and AI were designed to enhance the production traits of the Broadwater herd, which is evident in the Breedplan analysis and genotypes evident in the 2025 sales listing.

Reviewing the 2025 Broadwater catalogue:

  • 29 Lots with favourable birthweights are considered heifer safe.
  • 28 bulls earned the Stiffs mark for high growth. The high growth status is earned when two of the three growth EBVs are within the 20th percentile band of the registered Angus herd within Australia.
  • 12 bulls are considered carcase value improvers with each maintaining a minimum of two carcase EBVs, again falling within the upper 20pc.
  • Trifecta bulls featured throughout the catalogue have earned all three marks, validated by genomic testing.

The Stiffs have marked six lots in the catalogue as "special sires".

"These are exciting prospects, and include: Broadwater Fair-n-Square U032; Broadwater Trademark U055; Broadwater Fort Laramie U079; Broadwater Liquidator U080; Broadwater Valhalla V15; and Broadwater Validate V029."

In a Broadwater sale first, the Stiffs will also offer 10 unjoined rising two-year-old heifers representing the second and third generations of their breeding selections.

"These heifers will be presented in forward store condition at a minimum of 360kg liveweight, ready to AI or join to the sire of the buyer's choice."

Following their January 2025 AI program, the Stiffs 200 Herd Book Registered cows will calve out in November with their tenth drop of registered Angus calves.

"More than 50 per cent of these females now represent our own retained heifers. We are happy with the conformation and style of these replacements, which are the sisters of the bulls offered in this and recent sales."

The entire catalogue will be available to view at the first Broadwater open day on Thursday, August 14, from 9.30am to midday.

"This day may assist in those aiming to narrow down on their potential purchase selections. Lana and I, along with Matt Grayson and the team at George & Fuhrmann, will be happy to answer any questions."
