The bulls and females catalogued for this year's Gilmandyke Angus sale are a perfect representation of the stud's breeding philosophy and the foundation of the herd, says Gilmandyke general manager Wade Peatman.
This year's sale will take place from 1pm on Thursday, August 28, on Kangaroobie in Orange, NSW, with 120 bulls and a line-up of commercial females to be offered.
"We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality of livestock that we believe are best suited to the various Australian beef production systems," Mr Peatman said.
"Our large-scale commercial program provides stability and continues to influence the direction of our stud breeding program.
"The strength and selection pressure we place on our cows, combined with the use of superior sires, continually enhance the quality and depth of our sale draft."

Long-term sale supporters Stafford and Kim Job can attest to the quality of the genetics offered through the sale, which has been reflected in the article produced in their purebred Angus commercial breeding program.
The Jobs, with their sons Jonathon, Nicholas, and Lachlan, run Angus across nine properties. These properties are spread across Toongi in the Dubbo Shire, Macquarie Marshes in the Warren Shire, and Tomingley in the Narromine Shire.
They bought their first property at Toongi in 1988, and over the past 30 years, purchased adjoining blocks and others, with their last purchase being in 2021.
Mrs Job said the geography of these properties is quite varied depending on the location, ranging from rolling white box country to black melonhole country to the Macquarie Marshes country.
"We had a particularly dry 2024-25 spring and summer for our Toongi country, which missed all the storms that went through. It wasn't until late April that we received an autumn break that allowed us to plant about 400 hectares of oats. Fortunately, our country in the Macquarie Marshes received average to above average rainfall with beneficial flooding."
She said in spite of the inconsistent weather across their holdings, their cattle are doing well.
"We've been using Angus for 35 years. The breed appeals to us for its hardiness; they do well in our country, from the Western Plains to our flooded Marsh country. They have quiet temperaments, they're good mothers, and the breed attracts a premium from buyers."
In the pure Angus program, heifers are joined for eight weeks in May and September, while cows are run in mobs of 200 to 300 head, with the bulls in with the cows all year round.
"About 400 heifers are kept annually as self-replacements, while the rest are sold as weaners or feeder heifers. We target the feeder market between 380-450kg with a milk-tooth article. We target these markets for the premium paid for Angus feeder steers and heifers."
To enhance the quality of the end product they produce for this market, the Jobs have been purchasing bulls from Gilmandyke since the first annual sale was held.
"We're running 22 Gilmandyke bulls, which have proven to be quiet, good doing, hardy cattle that can handle the water."

Mrs Job said they keep going back to Gilmandyke due to the stud's large numbers of registered females and constant drive to source top Angus genetics.
"Wade Peatman is very knowledgeable and passionate about breeding Angus cattle. He's interested in our cattle enterprise and is happy to offer advice.
"We have been attending the sale for 14 years.
"The sale appeals to us because we get to see the actual bulls in the sale pens that we have marked out in the catalogue before the auction. We can therefore compare the bulls before we make our purchases. Being an on-property sale, we also get to speak to the Gilmandyke team about the bulls and obtain further information, particularly which bulls have been run together.
"We are attending this year's sale and we'll be looking for new genetics and bulls with good EBVs, including EMA and IMF."
Stocklive will facilitate livestreaming and online bidding for this year's Gilmandyke sale.
Inspection of the sale lots can be made from 10am on sale day, or beforehand via appointment.
Free delivery is being offered to the regional livestock exchanges in Yass, Carcoar, Forbes, Dubbo, and Tamworth.
