Future 'stalwart of the Corriedale industry' rises to the top at NSW Sheep Show

Roseville Corriedale, Kingsvale, dominated the NSW Sheep Show in Dubbo, taking out supreme exhibit and both grand champion ram and ewe honours.
From opposite sides of the ring, grand champion ewe Roseville 054, from the woolly division, met her match in grand champion ram Roseville 025, who topped the shorn division.
Ultimately, it was the ewe who claimed the supreme exhibit sash.
Judge Ed Thomas, Eugowra, said the ewe was unbeatable, outperforming every animal put in front of her.
"She is a cracking young sheep and a beautiful example of the Corriedale breed," he said.
"Her structure and balance reflect the future of the industry."

Associate judge Megan Baker, Camden, added that the ewe's nice, bright, soft wool was exceptional.
"To have a fleece and growth like that as a lamb is exceptional to breed," she said.
Tony Manchester, Roseville, said the 11-month-old, pure Roseville-blood ewe, was the best female he's ever bred.
"It is such a great result for years of breeding, but I'm excited to join and see her offspring," he said.
Behind her was shorn champion ewe Roseville 450, whose coverage and structure shone inside the ring.

In the rams, Mr Thomas said it was like 'splitting hairs' deciding the grand champion.
Champion shorn ram, Roseville 025, claimed the top honours ahead of the champion woolly ram, Boolina 26, exhibited by Katrina Abbott, Boolina, Bathurst.
Mr Thomas described the grand champion ram as "the modern version of the Corriedale" breed.
"He is the most complete ram with good structure right down to his feet," he said.
"He is well-headed, with plenty of style appeal, and he'll be a great stalwart of the Corriedale industry."

Mr Manchester was proud of the result following the ram's success at Sydney Royal and Bathurst.
"He's a complete and meaty ram with lovely soft skin," he said.
"He also has a fleece which appears will finish up well."
Mr Manchester plans to show the ram at the Australian Sheep & Wool Show later this year and will retain him for stud use.
Ms Baker said the champion woolly ram was the complete package with nice, bright wool.
"He's got style and definition, but once he kicks in, he'll grow a little bit more and he'll be amazing," she said.
Reserve champion shorn ewe was awarded to Roseville 06, while Roseville 159 was sashed reserve champion woolly ewe.
Glen Esk 240271, exhibited by Ric Houlahan, Glen Esk stud, Rydal, won reserve champion shorn ram, while Roseville 125 claimed reserve champion woolly ram.
