This year, the Meat and Dual Purpose sheep breeds entries resulted in an increase compared to last year, with two breeds having substantial numbers to exhibit in their own breed classes.
The judging of the breed wrapped up on April 18, with a total of 459 exhibits on display across a variety of breeds, from three states across the eastern states.
RAS sheep and wool committee chair Joe Byrnes, said the section recorded a five per cent increase in entries with the Valais Blacknose and Wiltipoll breeds being judged as individual breeds this year.
"While the last few years have proven challenging for many of us, we are proud to be celebrating this incredible range of sheep here today including some new exhibitors," he said.
One of the highlight of the presentation was Canowindra Jo Balcombe, Cranbrook Poll Dorset stud, who was presented with the RAS sheep youth member award.
Ms Balcombe has been an outstanding contributor to the sheep and fleece in recent years, through her judging and arrangement of classes.
She has judged a range of different classes and experienced a range of different sheep operations.
Jo has also judged greatly in the sheep program, having judged the schools, handler and young judges classes.
