Moorwatha Tanya T19 has carried the day, being judged as the best Red Angus exhibit at Sydney Royal on Saturday by judge Jake Phillips, Naracoorte, SA.

As the evening sun faded and air force pilots jockeyed their aircraft over the showgrounds, Mr Phillips had to choose between his grand champion bull and female for the best exhibit of the breed.

"I've made a rod for my own back; I can't get this decision wrong," he said.

"There's an outstanding young bull, and the cow is outstanding."

"This type of female should get all of us out of bed in the morning.

"They are cattle breeders, and they're bloody hard to make.

"She's well uddered, structurally sound, mobile and, importantly, doing an outstanding job on the calf.

"He's got such a masculine head, so well made from testicles to toes, from topline to hindquarter.

"He's just so thick throughout, so evenly made, structurally sound, and great underneath; he is a sire's sire.

"However, there was to be only one winner, and T19's capacity won the day."

Mr Hobbs said T19 was trucked to Rockhampton last May and won the Beef 24 junior champion female sash for the Red Angus.

T19 was sired by Round-em-up The Night P012, out of Moorwatha N48.

The reserve senior female was WFB Red Dina T121, shown by the White family, The Lagoon.

The junior champion female was Diamond Voodoo Doll, shown by Christie Fuller, Cowra.

Ms Fuller said it was the heifer's first show outing, and she was delighted with the result.

Voodoo Doll was sired by Red Lazy MC Tradition 111C, out of DK Red 624 Q10.

The reserve was Moorwatha Uma U19, shown by the Hobbs family. It was sired by Fishington P14, out of Moorwatha J13.

WFB Red Thor WFBT149, the senior and grand champion bull, captured Mr Phillips' attention.

Mrs White was delighted with the result, saying Red Thor was judged the grand champion bull at Canberra and Melbourne in 2024.

WD Red Mr Quicksilver sired Red Thor out of WFB Red Dina WFBN08. Calved in September 2022, it weighed 1162 kilograms and had an eye muscle area (EMA) of 139 square centimetres, 18 millimetres of fat on the rump and 12mm on the rib.

"Now we've got the trifecta," she said.

"He's going up for sale."

The reserve senior bull was Redgums Tough Guy, shown by Cliff and Maree Downey, Yambuna, Victoria.

Redgums Mr Mulberry, sired Tough Guy out of Redgums Holly, weighed 1136kg and had an EMA of 136sq cm, rump fat of 24mm, and 14mm rib.

The junior bull was MoorevaleGK Red S20 Vin Diesel V01, shown by Lachlan Moore, Moorevale Red Angus, Langley Vale.

The reserve junior bull was the Knee family's Mellowood 67G Unforgettable U12 from Loomberah, near Tamworth. U12 weighed 626kg, had an EMA of 96sq cm, 11mm rump and 7mm rib.

The White family exhibited the winning sire's progeny team, sired by WD Red Mr Quicksilver, while the Downey family's Redgums Mr Mulberry, was placed second.

Mr Phillips said an association with the Red Angus breed two decades ago was the impetus to introduce him to the beef industry, and he was 'forever grateful' for the opportunities presented to him.
