A young Hereford breeder dominated in the youth events at Canberra Royal 2025 on Sunday, taking out both the bred or purchased and owned class and the RNCAS Youth Show.

Quipolly's Mitch Taylor won both competitions with his Hereford heifer MT Jewess V003, under the eye of judge Michelle Fairall, Harden.

The eight-month-old heifer was sired by Eclipse Optimus Prime Q002 and out of Kanimbla Jewess P051.

In the bred and owned class the Hereford heifer claimed the champion banner over the reserve Jones Livestock Ultra Royal, exhibited by Brittany Jones, Jones Livestock, Kingswood.

Judge Ms Fairall said she admired how feminine the champion Hereford heifer was.

"She's really got that lovely wedge shape that really struck my eye as soon as she entered the ring," she said.

Mr Taylor said the young female is a descendant of one of the foundation females he purchased in 2019.

"Her mother was only a heifer at the time I bought her," he said.

"She's been breeding some really nice calves for me, and this heifer she's performing well.

"She only got weaned two weeks ago, so she's very sappy and a lot of that just comes from her mother."

"This heifers bred by one of my sisters bull Eclipse Optimus Prime, who is a Bowen Calibre son."

The reserve champion Jones Livestock Ultra Loyal was a 16-month-old Limousin heifer sired by Raydon Park Qashqai and out of Raydon Park Princess.

Ms Fairall said the Limousin was a slightly different style of heifer with a little bit more growth.

"I think both heifers are suitable for the industry," she said.

The two heifers were awarded the titles over the bull heat winner Rosora Volton V3, exhibited by Sienna Manning, Wayo.

The nine-month-old Limousin bull was sired by Warrigal Queue Up Q36 and out of Summit Highflyer S6.

The young Hereford heifer continued her success when winning the RNCAS Youth Show, over the eight-month-old Limousin bull, BRC Livestock Vantastic, exhibited by Zeke Groom Yass.

Miss Fairall said she admired the young female for her capacity and length of body.

"She has that wedge shape and that's the reason I decided to go with her as my champion," she said.
