Royal Canberra Show 2025: Limousin breed judging results

After potentially making no plans to show this year, all plans changed for Hayden and Jazmine Green, Summit Livestock, Crookwell, after one heifer had calved.
The decision was made all worthwhile after their 30-month-old first calver, Summit Temptress T39 was awarded supreme Limouin exhibit under judges Peter Collins, Tennyson, Vic and associate judge Jack Taylor, Dubbo.
Rising from the 30 months and over female class, the young breeder continued her success, claiming senior and grand champion female before competing against the grand champion bull Summit Gold Rush U443, also exhibited by Summit Livestock.
Judge Peter Collins said the female was fantastic.
"She's sound easy doing, easy to work with whichever industry you are in," he said.
"Whether it be vealers or breeders, she's going to breed you great heifers and great bulls.
"You can't breed good bulls unless you have good cows and stacking up with good cows behind her; when you get a cow like this, well, you can put her to most bulls, and she will breed you a good animal."
Temptress T39 was out Summit Temptress K36 and by Summit Drover P54.
Mr Green said this wasn't the first time the female had success as a cow and calf unit after winning the supreme livestock exhibit at Crookwell show just a fortnight ago against the supreme sheep exhibit.
"She had a bit of success as a heifer," he said.
"She actually won the Limousin Youth Show as a baby 12-month-old heifer.
"The heifer calf is by a bull we imported from the US called SYES Easy Going 77E, he's a really good calving ease bull.
"We use him on a lot of our heifers."
"She's our lead for Sydney year; we weren't necessarily going to show this year, but when she calved and we saw how good she was, we thought we had to get her out in public, so we bought a team around her and have a bit of fun."
The couple also had success with their 18-month-old bull Summit Gold Rush U443, out of Summit Light-Ice P112 and by Anchor B Gold Rush 48G, who was named junior and then grand champion bull against the senior champion Limousin bull, Kyanne Titan, exhibited by Kyanne Limousins, Cowra.
Mr Taylor said the grand champion bull was tremendous.
"He's so well balanced, he's so good through that front end and he just has a good topline," he said.
"You get done to his legs and feet and he gets it done right there and then you get behind him and he is just so wide as well."
Mr Collins said the young bull displayed so much good at a young age.
"The closer you get to this bull the better off he is," he said.
"He's so good across the top through the eye muscle and down through the loin into the hindquarter there.
"But he looks powerful through the front-end but his not, you get straight on to this bull and look at his shoulder their straight up, it is all meat."
The junior champion heifer was awarded to Lynbrook Nightingale U9, exhibited by Barham and Sowter, Werai.
This heifer has quite the successful pasted as being shown as a calf at foot alongside her mother Lynbrook Nightingale S3 and was announced as the supreme beef exhibit of the Royal Canberra Show in 2024.
Mr Collins said the young female was all class.
"She's free moving, has a beautiful front end of her, but she has that softness and thickness to her too," he said.
"She is something really really special."
The reserve champion junior heifer was awarded to Keajura Park Red Satan, exhibited by Keajura Park Limousins, Tarcutta.
