Canberra Royal 2025: Red Angus breed judging

A well put together Red Angus female claimed grand champion in the breed judging at the 2025 Royal Canberra Show.
Pentire Ruby Rose U34, exhibited by Strike One, Glendon Brook, claimed the champion title under the eye of judge Peter Collins, Merridale Angus, Tennyson, Vic.
The 18-month-old Red Angus was sired by Red U2 Revival and out of Pentire Ruby Rose R34.
Charli Issanchon, Strike One, said she liked her stockiness.
"She can hold her fat - I don't have to put much feed into her and I only feed her at shows," she said.
"She can carry herself really well when she's not tired, she's wide, she's got good hip to pin on her and she's really structurally sound."
Ms Issanchon said she had shown Ruby Rose U34 at several shows, including Singleton where she was awarded third and at Merriwa where she was pulled into the top 10.
Mr Collins said the grand champion was "really well put together".
"I love the smoothness of shoulder and depth of body," he said.
Mr Collins said she was wide across the top and paraded very well.
Ruby Rose U34 claimed junior and grand champion female over the reserve junior champion Yallambee Blackout V11, exhibited by Redrocket Poll Herefords, Larpent, Victoria.
The 12-month-old heifer, was sired by Milwillah Blackout and out of Yallambee Bindi.
Mr Collins said he admired the heifer for her "beautiful neck extension and smoothness of shoulder".
