Queenlee Merino were supported by long-term clients at the New England studs 36th annual on-property sale on Tuesday.

Spirited bidders from around the room who had trust in the stud's genetics, or who had previously purchased from the Carlon family helped the stud through challenging market conditions within the wool market.

The stud sold 22 rams from 52 offered for an average of $1136 and an equal top of $1500, over six rams sold privately immediately after the sale.

Results were back on last year's 29 from 49 rams selling to an $1217 average and $2800 top.

Over eight lots were sold via the online platform Auctions Plus, with rams sold into Queensland and South Australia.

Volume buyer John Clay, St Millicent, South Australia, purchased six rams to average $1133.

Repeat buyer of 12 years Ralph Price, Mudgee purchased the two equal top-priced rams for $1500.

The two-year-old polled top-priced ram had the highest micron within the sale draft at 18 and an 84.6 yield.

Ray Taylor, Longreach Queensland, purchased five rams immediately after the sale for $1000 each.

"We knew it was going to be tough with the current sheep and wool market," said Queenlee stud principal Phillip Carlon once the sale had been completed.

The sale was covered by Nutrien, Armidale and Schute Bell Badgery Lumby, with Graham Andrews as the auctioneer.
