Return buyers play a pivotal role at Narranmore Poll Dorset ram sale

Buyers sought well-proportioned rams with solid weight for age at the Narranmore Poll Dorset ram sale, held on property, near Elong Elong.
Mark and Kim Stanford, Enfield, Leadville, purchased the top-priced ram, Narranmore 364, for $2900.
The spring 2023 drop ram weighed 111 kilograms.
Mr and Mrs Standford also purchased Narranmore 366, 121kg, Narranmore 369, 118kg, and Narranmore 253, 108kg, to average $2100.
They selected their rams based on weight for age, long, tall, proportionate bodies, and big, clean faces.
The Standford family has used Narranmore genetics for more than a decade.
"I had some older rams break down in early January, and we're joining, so I just wanted to replace them," Mr Standford said.
"We run a seven-week joining, and they'll be joined to about 700 ewes."
Bob Hollow, Dunedoo, purchased the second top-priced ram, Narranmore 359, 122kg, for $2800. It was Mr Hollow's sole purchase.
PJ and CA Sullivan, Mount Marlowc, Dunedoo, bought the third top-priced ram, Narranmore 363, 113kg, for $2700.
The Sullivan's secured four rams in total to average $1875.
Stud co-principal Ian O'Leary said he was pleased with the lineup of rams on offer and was grateful for the support of return clients in their 35th year of sales.
While 59 rams were catalogued, the sale offered to lot 42. In total, 29 rams sold to average $1428.
Milling Stuart, Dunedoo, conducted the sale with Jamie Stuart as auctioneer.
