The third annual Eidsvold Simmental and Fleckvieh sale delivered strong results on August 29 at the Eidsvold saleyards, drawing nine vendors, one more than in each of the previous two years. The top-priced Fleckvieh bull, Tennysonvale Vol, sold for $28,000 to a Taroom-based operation that runs the Karinya herd and the Fairy Springs Brahmans stud. At 29 months and polled, the bull was also the heaviest in the sale at 1070kg, carrying P8 and rib fat of 10 and 7 millimetres, an eye muscle area of 142 square centimetres, an intramuscular fat score of 5.7 per cent, and a scrotal size of 39.5 centimetres. Offered by the Tennysonvale Simmental Fleckvieh stud from Illabo, NSW, it was one of 10 bulls the stud presented. The top-priced female, the 23-month-old PTIC Fleckvieh heifer Tennysonvale Voof, made $9000 to the Tiaro Park Fleckvieh stud. Across the sale, 41 of 49 bulls sold for an 84 per cent clearance, a gross of $372,000, and an average of $9073, while 12 of 13 females sold for a 92 per cent clearance, a gross of $74,500, and an average of $5730. Compared with 2025, when 46 of 51 bulls topped at $32,500 and averaged $7924, this year's bull average lifted notably. Tennysonvale averaged $12,555 for nine bulls sold and $7666 for three females, travelling roughly two days from near Wagga Wagga to reach Queensland buyers who value the breed for growth, fat cover, milk and fertility in crossbreeding programs.
