History: Dongon Plains has had three separate owners in the past 100 years. The current owners purchased the property in 1987.
Location: 90 kms southwest Dirranbandi, 45 kms west Hebel, 115 kms northwest Lightning Ridge or 45 kms northwest Goodooga. Gravel access to these towns. Gravel internal access.

Water: Two separate private Artesian bores, recently refurbished, reticulated under bore pressure to 55 troughs with storage tanks. Water connected to all paddocks, buildings and yards. Both bores are connected in a wagon wheel pattern. Water medication units on each bore. The property stock watering system is supported by 15 earth dams.
The house & garden bore water supply is filtered by reverse osmosis through an on-farm desalination plant. The results in the garden following the installation has been amazing.

Regrowth: Following regrowth pulling over the years, any timber regeneration has been virtually eliminated by goat grazing.
Cultivation: Since 2022, 2330 ha’s of established cultivation has been developed at Combo on the Wallam flood plain. All originally blade ploughed and levelled with a heavy chain and trailing grader. Recent soil tests are available.
1800 ha’s wheat harvested in November 2025, 526 hectares established grain sorghum.
Fencing: Mostly all new steel fencing comprising a new 92 km new exclusion boundary fence. The fence has the curtain to the inside with a single offset hot wire on the outside. The internal fencing is 11/110/15 netting with two off set electric single wires on each side. A residue weed spray is done once a year to ensure the performance of the electric wires. There are ten main grazing paddocks with ample holding paddocks and lane ways around yards.
Improvements:
Dongon Plains complex: Comfortable & air conditioned 4-bedroom homestead, approx. 40 squares, includes nursery & office. Rainfall: 420 mm average annual rainfall. Dongon Plains & Combo are unique as they benefit from both summer and winter rainfalls.
Carrying Capacity: Originally Dongon Plains was a regular 500 bale per year wool producer. It is now well developed and is equally suited for breeding and fattening sheep, cattle or goats The present owners have run the property mostly as a goat operation with trading cattle in seasons. Goat numbers have ranged from a peak of 40,000 back to 15,000. Presently destocking from 20,000 goats plus 300 cows.
Estimated to carry 6,000 to 8,000 Dorper ewes or 1,500 to 2,000 backgrounding steers. (This could be increased significantly with fodder cropping at Combo.)
Pimilea has not been an issue at Dongon Plains and Combo.
Summary: Dongon Plains & Combo are located in some of the best sheep, cattle grazing country in Southwest Queensland. There is a mix of mostly improved grey to red Gidgee country, ranging from Mitchell Grass plains with salines to strong Buffel country. The addition of the cultivation at Combo is subject to mostly minor flooding. The cropping production obviously adds to the strong cashflow and or drought proofing this aggregation. The country is highly regarded as sweet grazing for cattle, sheep or goats.
