Tumbledown is located 15km north of the township of Ashford, on the western slopes of the Northern Tablelands. The pristine Severn River forms the four kilometre northern boundary of Tumbledown and the property is nestled amongst the natural beauty of Kwiambal National Park, Limestone Caves as well as the Severn and Macintyre Falls. Tumbledown is the headquarters of our family business and Wagyu genetic program where we continually improve our exceptional genetics through embryo transfer and artificial insemination programs. Over 25 years we have built a breeding herd of over 1200 high-performance Fullblood Wagyu females that have been carefully selected to produce cattle with the high marbling meat that Wagyu is famed for, without sacrificing frame size or weight gain. Tumbledown Wagyu is a 3-generation family-run farming business that started as a hobby farm and fishing block, and has gotten out of hand. Initially, we started running Murray Grey cattle as a nice second income outside of the 'real' jobs as school teachers. Unhappy with the poor value on offer from traditional sale yard markets, we made the decision to take a risk on a little-known breed (at the time) that promised better value. This has grown into a 1200 head Fullblood Wagyu business that we are very proud of. We are always working hard to improve the land we manage and the Wagyu cattle we produce. Tumbledown bulls have featured in the AWA Elite Wagyu Sale for the top 5% of animals in Australia. Since 1995 our carefully managed genetic improvement program has resulted in our herd containing some of the best animals in Australia. Our stud bulls are carefully selected using the latest Estimated Breeding Values (EBV) information from the Australian Wagyu Association database. Wagyu are bred to marble well and that's at the centre of why the breed commands a premium price over other breeds. Our genetic ethos is based on producing balanced animals that excel in frame score, weight gain and marbling ability, to provide you with a bull that can immediately unlock extra value from your herd for years to come. Whether you're a Wagyu breeder or looking to cross-breed to increase profitability, Mick has over 29 years of experience in Wagyu cross-breeding and full blood herd improvement. We will be more than happy to have a chat and assist you in finding the right bull or advice.
