About Pomanara Merino Stud
Pomanara Merino Stud is a family owned and run business. We specialise in Ultrafine and Superfine Wool.
We are very passionate about the wool we grow and most importantly how we grow it and prepare it for
sale. The health and welfare of our sheep is also our priority. Our aim over the years has been to breed
superfine wool sheep that cut plenty of crimpy, traditional style wool. Style and softness are the main
factors in maintaining our average micron. Our 5-year micron average is 16.0 micron. This year's wool clip
in the adult sheep cut 5kg. We are also focusing on breeding the biggest rams we can, for this type of
wool, which we have slowly achieved this over the last 12 years. The family has been breeding these types
of merinos for 2 generations over 88 years. Pomanara is situated in the high-altitude hills between
Bathurst & Mudgee.
