It all began with a simple question: Can we do better—for our land, our animals, and the people who rely on us?

That question became the foundation of Moojepin Merinos.

Born from a deep respect for the land and the legacy of Australian sheep farming, Moojepin is a family-run enterprise that has always believed in doing things differently—not for the sake of change, but to move the industry forward.

We saw an opportunity to rethink how Merinos could be bred—combining the power of data with the instincts of stockmanship. With every season, we’ve refined our approach. From introducing early ewe-lamb joining and selecting for key animal welfare traits, to embracing genomic technologies and challenging outdated practices, our breeding program has been shaped by evidence, not assumptions.

We’ve never been interested in breeding sheep that only look the part. We breed for measurable outcomes: faster growth, better carcase and fleece quality, stronger maternal ability, and resilience across environments. Every trait we select is backed by high-accuracy Australian Sheep Breeding Values (ASBVs) and tested in commercial conditions—not just on paper.

Over time, our quiet determination has built a strong reputation—among breeders, processors, and producers alike. And while we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we’re still asking questions. Still improving. Still pushing for better.
