About Lotus Herefords

Established in 1982 by Oliver, Colleen & Tony, Lotus is run by the Holliss family. Maintaining a relevant commercial focus in our stock is what has enabled us to remain in the beef industry.

Our stud & commercial animals are all managed as one using the same selection criteria, joining sires & grazing management across all females regardless of registration status. Our breeders have to be productive each year. Female selection is based on structure, temperament and Hereford phenotype. Productivity each year then ensures their place in the herd. We take pride in a no functional no fuss cow herd.

Bulls sold each year come from these highly productive females. Selection starts at branding and they are then scrutinized every trip they make to the yards or any time they are viewed in the paddock and numbers are reduced. This occurs up to sale day.

Our annual bull sale is held in July each year, offering approx 45 rising 2yr old bulls.
A strong focus on land management (soils,water & pasture) has been handed down to each generation since 1919 when the original property was purchased by Albert Holliss. This has carried on and aligns with Regenerative Agriculture principles of today.
