ESTABLISHED 1987
Traditionally, Queensland Angus studs have been located in the tick-free, low humidity areas west of the Great Dividing Range in the southern part of the state.
The Cochrane Angus stud is one of the few studs situated on the eastern side of the range in the south east corner.
While Cochrane stock find a ready market west of the Great Divide, the coastal location has proved to be very beneficial in meeting the growing demand for Angus bulls, which have been born and bred in humid, tick and buffalo fly country.
Bulls have been sold along the eastern side as far north as Cooktown. Cattlemen in tick-infested areas derive confidence from being able to source Angus bulls from a cow herd that has been adapted to withstand the harsh, subtropical and tropical conditions.
Cochrane Angus has been in existence for 36 years. The stud is based predominantly on Te Mania, Ardrossan, Alpine, and Millah Murrah bloodlines. Artifical breeding plays an important role in the Cochrane Angus stud and the herd is Breedplan recorded.
