About Bald Blair Angus

Bald Blair Angus: A Legacy of Excellence in Angus Breeding

Welcome to Bald Blair Angus, our fifth-generation family farm on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. Our family has been breeding Angus cattle since the early 1900s, with the stud officially registered with the Aberdeen Angus Society in 1908. H.F. White, grandfather to current owner Sam White, was inspired by his time as a colonel in the Australian Army, where he played a role in supporting food production during the First and Second World Wars. His dedication to agriculture shaped the values we continue to uphold today.

Our Passion for Agriculture

Our passion for agriculture is driven by a desire to contribute to feeding a growing world population while ensuring the sustainable management of our land. Our people, environment, and livestock are at the heart of every decision we make, allowing us to take a profit-driven approach that ensures the long-term success of our farm and the broader agricultural community.

Combining Science with Experience

Breeding bulls requires a balance of science and stockmanship. We are committed to breeding the best possible bulls through our carefully refined system, with continual genetic improvement at the core of what we do. We take pride in building long-term relationships with our clients and being of service to the agricultural industry.

At Bald Blair Angus, we embrace new technology and science to drive continuous genetic gain, and we thrive on the challenge of improving our operations year after year. Our goal is to provide our clients with the best possible data when purchasing bulls, and we aim to have genomically enhanced EBVs on every bull with parent verification. This, combined with independent structural assessments, ensures our customers have all the information they need to make confident decisions and achieve their own genetic gains through their own continued breeding programmes.

We also run a commercial herd at Bald Blair Angus, sending all of our steers through the Rangers Valley feedlot. This serves as the proving ground for our genetics, and the data we receive from the feedlot is a testament to the success of our breeding programme.

Investing in People and Sustainability

We know that investing in our people is just as important as investing in our cattle. That’s why we provide regular, relevant training for our staff, covering areas such as low-stress stock handling, chemical certification, pregnancy testing, artificial insemination, pasture assessment, and cattle evaluation.

For more than 30 years, we’ve also been dedicated to improving our environment. Our on-property tree planting program has resulted in over 10,000 trees being planted so far, and we’re committed to adding 1,000 more trees each year. We’ve fenced off waterways to protect riparian zones to ensure the longevity of our land. Our goal is to renew perennial pastures every 20 years, but through rotational grazing systems, some of our pastures have thrived for over 50 years.

A Trusted Partner in Quality

We stand behind our product. Whether we’re breeding bulls for self-replacing Angus herds or producing steers for today’s discerning markets, we are committed to delivering quality and consistency.

Beef from our Bald Blair Angus steers is restaurant-quality, having been on feed for 270 days at Rangers Valley Feedlot. We proudly serve it at our annual bull sale, giving our clients a firsthand experience of the quality we produce.
