JR Turner Saleyards

With a $4.72 million investment between 2020 and 2023, the facilities have undergone significant rebuild and operational improvements.

In addition to this, January 2025 saw the rebuild of selling pens 1 to 18, with a further rebuild of selling pens 37 to 54 scheduled for July 2026. The rebuild of the selling pens is part of an ongoing commitment by Isaac Regional Council for improved operational efficiencies, better animal welfare practices, and improved workplace health and safety standards long into the future.

The JR Turner Clermont Saleyards continues to average more than 80,000 head of cattle a year through the facility. This consists of bi-weekly combined fat and store sale stock, transit stock spelling, rail stock going for slaughter, and private consignments weighing and dipping on routes to feedlots in the South East.

The upgrades at the JR Turner Clermont Saleyards include the addition of a second drafting facility, a 3-meter wide dump ramp, and the addition of 18 selling pens, bringing the total to 126 selling pens. In addition to these upgrades, a number of minor improvements have been made in the infrastructure leading to the scales to improve worker safety and efficiencies in the weighing process.

Adjacent to the saleyards is the FH Faint Memorial Showgrounds, which focuses on delivering one of Queensland’s oldest agricultural shows, conferences, field days, educational activities, and private events. These can be conducted in an air-conditioned pavilion with kitchen facilities included or in several beautiful outdoor spaces. Several amenity blocks, camping facilities, and 100 equine stables are available for travelers, contractors, etc.

These enhancements not only complement the region's robust agricultural output, valued at $590 million, but also solidify Clermont's position as a world-class destination for cattle trading and agricultural showcases. With customer service at its core, the Clermont Saleyards team stands ready to cater to the needs of its clientele.
