The Cadnite Poll Dorset ram sale on-property at Naracoorte reflected the buoyant lamb demand the industry is experiencing at present.

The 73 paddock-reared flock rams offered by the Pfitzner family showed good growth, muscle and shape.

All sold in a total clearance to $2800, averaging $1521 - nearly a $300 rise on the 2025 sale, when 70 rams averaged $1222.

Repeat buyers, the Williams family from Kalangadoo, bought the 100-kilogram top-price ram.

They purchased strongly in the top end of the sale, taking home five rams averaging $2100.

Others to pay well included Craig Wooding, Penola, with four to $2600, averaging $2350; A McLeod, Coonawarra, with three to $2600, averaging $2400; and M Marcus, Penola, with two to $2300, averaging $2100.

Volume buyers were Lemark Farms, Struan, with seven rams; N&K McLean, Penola, six rams; M Smith, Lochaber, six rams; Walteela Park, Callendale, six rams; and A Heinrich, Bordertown, six rams.

Vendors Bernie, Claire, Arnie and Ruth Pfitzner were pleased with the result, welcoming a mix of new and regular buyers.

The sale was conducted by TDC, with Sam Hill organising the sale, and Matt Treglown and Hayden Lambert the auctioneers.
