Taking stock at Jandebrey White Suffolks with increased ram sale average

There was an average and top price boost at the Jandebrey White Suffolk ram sale last week.
Held at Maitland on Wednesday by Geoff and Tania Stock, 57 rams were offered with 53 headed to new pastures.
The 53 rams averaged $1060 and topped at $1900, up from a $998 average and $1500 top in 2025 when they had a full clearance of 56 rams.
Mrs Stock said the stud's clients were after rams to produce quick growing, easy-lambing progeny which was shown throughout the catalogue.
Long-time clients Des and Bec Detmar, Warooka, picked up the top price ram in Lot 10.
Sired by Baringa 20/0070, the ram was described as being a true to type White Suffolk.
"He's sired by a ram we've had a lot of success with," Mrs Stock said.
"He's got strong muscling and great length that buyers were after.
"The Detmar family are regular buyers picking rams from the top end of our catalogue and they're breeding on well for them."
Nutrien stock agent Julian Burke, Minlaton, also praised Lot 10.
"He's a big, tall, long and stretchy ram," he said.
"He was just really well put together and the best ram in the sale which sold accordingly."
The buyers gallery was filled with new and old faces, with rams sold throughout Yorke Peninsula, into the Mid North and South East in addition to interstate.
Roger Johns, Maitland, returned to the sale after being the volume buyer in 2025 and increased his order this year.
Last year, he took home 12 rams, with a further 20 picked up in 2026 at a $980 average.
His son, Nick Johns, Glendinning Station, Balmoral, Vic, will take the rams interstate with plans to use them over composite ewes.
Wardle Co stock agent Tony Clarke, Maitland, said the catalogue was one of the best.
"Geoff and Tania have always paid big money and bought the best terminal sires they could possibly get to invest in their stud," he said.
"Through that they're producing extremely well put together animals.
"They're paddock run rams and they're as good as I've seen anywhere."
Overall, Mrs Stock said she was incredibly pleased with the result.
"This is our 28th sale and we've had people who have been supporting us for most of that time," she said.
"They have a lot of confidence in our rams, they're producing excellent results for them so they keep investing in our genetics to help make our sale a success.
"We're going to be keeping our eyes open for new sires and continue to offer the best rams possible."
