Sold out: The Grove Shorthorns achieves full clearance and a tidy top price

The Grove Shorthorn stud at Myall Grove, Condamine, achieved outstanding results in its 43^rd annual sale.

The 24-hour sale on September 9 and 10, hosted on The Grove's website, attracted frenzied bidding in the fast money shootout for 30 minutes from 2pm on Thursday, the final day.

The Grove offered 61 bulls, all of them selling, to give a 100 per cent clearance, a $16,098.36 average, a top price of $74,000, and an overall sale gross of $982,000.

Bulls on offer included 53 Shorthorns and eight Durham Blacks.

The 2026 top price of $74,000 was achieved by The Grove Encrypt V0438 (P) (Red), which attracted 42 bids and was purchased by the Brownlie family of Deepwater Farming Company, Westmar.

The two-year-old, 938 kilogram bull was sired by Turanville Encryption S2227 (P) (Roan), out of The Grove M0938 (P) (Red).

He recorded 12 millimetres of rump fat, 8mm of rib fat and an eye muscle area of 141 square centimetres.

He is in the top one per cent of Estimated Breeding Values for Shorthorns for scrotal circumference (at 44cm), days to calving, retail beef yield and export $ index.

Vendor Spencer Morgan said he was a great bull to have up at the front of the catalogue.

"The Breedplan figures and raw data really match the bull. He's really structurally sound. (He has) great skin, great deep, dark red, (he's) a good-headed bull. He's a real sire in the making," he said.

Mr Morgan and his wife Sophie Morgan thanked all the buyers and the underbidders.

"We're really pleased with the result. We really appreciate the support. We've had a lot of repeat buyers and a couple of new ones.

"They were a great lot of bulls. We're thrilled and we hope they go and do the job they were bought for."

Mr Morgan said the Brownlie family bought 12 bulls.

"They were the main bulk buyer and are long-time clients.

"They have a terrific herd of cows and always buy at the better end of the bulls."

He said bulls went to Alice Springs, South Australia, New South Wales and western Queensland.

Other volume buyers include DSM Pastoral, Yambah Station, Alice Springs, with nine bulls, and the Doyle family at Blackall who took home six bulls.

Lot 48 The Grove Jury V1210 (P) (AI) achieved the second top price at $52,000, while The Grove Mittiebah V0601 (P) (Red) achieved the next top price at $42,000, while The Grove Informant V0327 (DR) (P) reached $36,000; The Grove Jury V1174 (P) (AI) (Red), reached $34,000; and The Grove Encrypt V0448 (P) (Roan), reached $32,000.

Eight Shorthorn bulls earned between $20,000 and $30,000.

The Durham Blacks sold to an average of $8625. Yearling bulls The Grove Waymaker W0115 (DR) (P) (AI) (Black) and The Grove Waymaker W0131 (DR) (P) (AI) (Black) each sold to a top of $11,000.
