Total clearance at Voewood Brangus 'cattleman's sale' a vote of confidence
Improved averages and clearance levels were the order at the Voewood Cattleman's Sale, Calliope, on September 9.
Vendors, the Quinn family, Voewood Brangus stud, Calliope staged their helmsman sale involving a catalogue of 26 rising two-year-old registered and herd bulls.
A total clearance at auction was attained with a bottom-line average of $7500, selling to a top of $15,000.
Last year at the inaugural sale 20 bulls averaged $5800 for a 75 per cent clearance with the high seller changing hands for $8500.
Top seller at $15,000 was the registered product, Voewood Victory V757 (PP) (ET).
The 22-month-old homozygous poll weighed 824 kilograms and delivered scan data of P8 and rib fat measurements of 16 and 12 millimetres respectively, an eye muscle area of 130 square centimetres, andintramuscular fat of 5.7 per cent.
Taking the top seller was Glen Williams, WF Land and Cattle, Silver Ridge, Banana. Mr Williams signed off on two for an average $13,000, including a homozygous poll son of the $64,000 Gunnadoo Park Mate (PP) for $11,000.
Another of the homozygous poll sons of Gunnadoo Park Mate (PP) fetched $13,000. Scaling 730 kilograms at 2 -months, the bull's scans were 13 and 10mm respectively for P8 and rib fat measurements, an EMA of 120 square centimetres, and intramuscular fat of 6pc.
Taking the bull was David and Lyn Anderson, Tindarra, Banana. Tindarra will be the home of two for an average $9500.
Adrian Anderson and the Tweep family, Allandale, Camboon selected four for an average $6750 topping at $9000 while Carl Anderson and family, Carisma, Banana bought a single entry for $7000.
Will Wilson and family, Calliope Cattle Company, Calliope Station, Calliope took four head for an average $6000.
Also returning were Charles and Suzanne Cooper, Styx Pastoral, Riverview, Ogmore who signed off on a trio for $6000 each.
Taking a single entry through AuctionsPlus for $10,000 was Peronne Station, Pentland operated by Nathan and Allison Hughes.
Locally, the Sypher family, Calliope took a $9000 23-month-old by Voewood Snow S373 (PP) (AI) while Mackland Grazing, Glen Bowen Station, Collinsville secured an $8000 single entry.
