Complete clearance achieved for the Nobbs families' 45th Moura Bull Sale

Bulls offered by the five studs run by the Nobbs family met with strong demand at the 45^th Moura Bull Sale on Friday, September 18 at the Moura saleyard.

All 75 lots offered by the Cordelia, Cordelia P, Garwin, Yoman, and Lyndhurst studs sold for a complete clearance. These bulls averaged $ 9720, with a high of $32,000.

The result compared well to last year's offering, in which 73 of 84 bulls sold for an 87 per cent clearance to average $9904 and also top at $32,000.

Speaking on behalf of the vendors, Thomas Nobbs, Yoman stud, Moura, said this year's result had been their best yet.

"We were very happy with the sale. The overall quality of the draft was a bit better than last year, and we offered a few less bulls, which seemed to help drive demand from our buyers, who are mainly situated in central Queensland," Mr Nobbs said.

The breakdown by breed for this year's sale saw all 44 Brahmans sell to average $8773, topping at $28,000 for the 36-month-old Kariboe Valley Ventura 1161/0 son, Yoman T TLN481/4M (PS), which was secured by repeat sale clients the Connolly family, Theodore.

All 22 bulls in the Charbray contingent sold to average $13,045. It was again the Connolly family who made the winning bid on the eventual overall top price $32,000 bull of the day, the 24-month-old ANC Resolute son, Cordelia 191 (H).

The Charbray section also delivered the second top price bull of the sale when the 23-month-old Cordelia Meninga son Cordelia 472 (H) sold to Bush Holdings, Alpha, for $30,000. He was one of four bulls purchased by Bush Holdings on the day, which averaged $16,500.

All nine Brangus offered sold to average $6222, reaching a high of $9000 for Garwin R34/5 (PS), with the winning bid made by the Atkinson family, Dingo.

Volume buyers were out in force on the day, spearheaded by Barkly Grazing, Tennant Creek, which bought nine Brahmans to average $6000.

The Atkinsons also took home an impressive draft of four Brahmans and a Brangus, averaging $12,400, while Bloxsom Family Trust, Planet Downs, Rolleston, bought seven Brahmans to average $10,286, and Lawn Hill, Mount Isa, bought five Brahmans to average $5000.
