After following the same blueprint, lightning has struck twice for this genetic combination, topping the sale at the 3R Muscle and Maternal sale at Tamworth on Wednesday, August 19.

The sale hit a high of $70,000 with full clearance of 47 bulls for a $10,596 average, as well as some embryo lots.

The top price was paid for yearling bull 3RLS Smoke W096, by Connealy Craftsman and Coleman Donna 9309 - a full brother to the $40,000 top price bull in 2025, 3RLS Blueprint V045.

Smoke weighed 570 kilograms with a scrotal circumference of 34 centimetres.

His estimated breeding values including a 200-day and 400-day growth in the top 10 per cent for the breed - at +65 and +112 respectively - along with the milk figure of +25.

He also rated in the top 1pc for the Angus Breeding Index ($A) at $293.

The buyer was YoYo Trading Company, Augathella, Qld, who last year picked up four bulls.

They have partnered with Genetics Australia to market the bull.

Damien Thomson, Genetics Australia, said the bull's female lines were outstanding.

"The female line behind this calf is incredible and to see the results already and the consistency in the full brothers and half-brothers has been incredible and we think we got the best one out of a large crop of calves," he said.

"I absolutely love the skin in the bull ... the hindquarters, the feet, the calving data.

"He's a very easy bull to market and like, so we're very excited to see how he develops."

3R is retaining the right to 50 semen straws each year.

Another standout was 3RLS Hemisphere V112, a 802kg bull with a 40cm scrotal circumference.

Another Conealy Craftsman and Coleman Donna S309 son, Hemisphere had a top 10pc milk figure of +33, a top 2pc $A of $286 and top 10pc 200-day and 400-day growth of +63 and +115.

He was bought by Duncrieff P/L, Pages River, which also secured a second bull for $8000.

3R's Geoff BIrchnell said he was pleased with the result given the season, especially having broken their stud record of $45,000.

This time last year their sale experienced torrential rain.

"We're very pleased particularly around the top-selling bull and the overall clearance of the bulls, especially when we all know a lot of cows have been sold out of the area," he said,

"The (top-selling) calf has been a standout since he was a born and his mother is one of the main factors because she is kicking goals around the globe. Phenotypically he was a standout ...he has a bit of that X factor and he commands attention.

"Overall we spread bulls into five of the mainland states, which is pleasing."

The sale's volume buyers included Gumnut Downs, Kirup, Western Australia, which loaded two bulls onto a truck for $8000 and $6000 each, while also selecting some embryos.

Branga Plains Pastoral Company, Walcha, took two bulls home, for $14,000 and $12,000 while Tarin Grove Farms, Pokolbin bought two bulls for $12,000 and $8000.

Bulliroy Creek Pastoral, Dunedoo, secured five bulls to a top of $8000 and average of $6800.

3R also sold 169 commercial heifers on Monday, August 17 for an average of $2310.

The sale was conducted by Elders with guest auctioneer Paul Dooley and AuctionsPlus providing the online interface.
