Hillview Hereford and Tyler Angus add value to repeat stud and commercial clients

Phenotype and pedigree combined with temperament lifted Hillview Hereford bull sale at Tyringham to new heights on Saturday, June 27.
Of the 15 horned Hereford bulls, 14 sold for an average $6928 and topped at $16,500 for a son of Valley Vista Shaquille S104 in Hillview Vice President V020.
The latest Hillview top-priced bull, 786 kilograms with two teeth at 22 months and a 39 centimetre scrotal diameter, sold to Jindalee Hereford stud, Kings Plains via Inverell.
The winning bid arrived amid a last-minute flurry of ticker-paper bids during the helmsman sale, organised through Donovan Livestock and Property.
Jindalee stud principal Eunice Vivers said she understood the sire's lineage and appreciated the attributes of his grandmother, Valley Vista Lioness P814, while his grandfather, Glenwarrah Men At Work, had been on her wish list for some time.
"I've always wanted Men At Work in my herd," she said.
Figures for S104 included positive growth with +71kg at 400 days and +109 at 600 days, with +123 for mature cow weight, while milk was +19 and eye muscle area +3.3 square centimetres.
"I love his head and he has beautiful colours," Mrs Vivers said.
Hillview Vice President V020 will be an outcross for the Jindalee stud after he spends time at Bovine Breeders near Armidale for semen collection to be used in the Hillview herd.
