Average prices lift 51 per cent at Gayndah's Elite Braford Breeders Sale

Braford breeders were rewarded for one of their highest quality offerings when average prices rose 51 per cent at the Elite Braford Breeders Heifer Sale at Gayndah on Saturday, March 21.
Despite a larger catalogue, demand failed to waver as 50 of 54 heifers sold to average $5206 and top at $15,000.
In comparison in 2025, all 38 heifers sold to average $3428 and top at $7500.
The trip up from Dulacca paid off for first time vendors at the sale, the Amor family, Carinya Brafords when their 19-month-old Carinya 3750 reached the sale high of $15,000.
The daughter of Carinya Apollo, who will have sons for sale at Gracemere in September, and Carinya 3320 sold to Russell, Donna and Bec Kenny, Harriett Valley, Gayndah.

Bec Kenny said their purchase would be going straight out to a bull, still to be decided.
"We haven't had a team discussion yet but potentially MCN Iceman or Harriett Valley Victor," she said.
"We've had Amor heifers before and we've done really well out of them, so we were looking at another one and we liked this one out of all of them.
"We all agreed and she's nice and deep and soft.
"We're going to try to breed some bulls out of her."
Vendor Jackie Amor said Apollo progeny had been very consistent and she had every confidence the high price female would breed on for the Kenny family.
"She is a beautiful boned heifer," she said.

"Very impressive, lovely temperament, lovely width across the top.
"She's got that potential that she should breed some really good progeny I would hope, especially for the Kenny family; they've been great supporters of our stud as well."
The Amor family also sold Carinya 3707 for $12,000 to Little Valley Brafords, Casino, NSW.
Ms Amor said they decided to sell in Gayndah as another outlet for their genetics.
It paid off when their five females sold to average $10,000.
"We like to sell them ready to be joined rather than in calf, and some would love us to have them in calf, and we used to, but we feel that they're a good size now to go in calf," she said.
Other high prices included Little Valley Jackie who was sold by the Bennett family to K and R Edwards, Doubtful Creek, NSW for $12,000.
The Donovan family, Jimbour, sold Ashby 1448 to Carinya for $10,000 while Carinya 3793 sold for the same value to K and R Edwards.
In a further breakdown, 38 of 42 stud females averaged $5829 while all 12 commercial females sold to average $3233 and top at $6000 for Malcolm and Sandra Kenny's Abernethy 5/53, selling to Matthew Wallace through GDL Nebo.
