Interstate demand high, Kirraweena Glenholme progeny head for Tas, Vic and NSW

Local and southern interstate buyers were the bidders to beat at the Kirraweena Glenholme Hereford sale, near Cootamundra, on Thursday, March 5.
Neil Fry, Cape Bridgewater, Victoria, secured the sale topper, Kirraweena Vulcan V223 for $13,000.
A son of Karoonda Warship Q926 and out of Kirraweena Miss Bradman M216, the 20-month-old bull weighed 718kg with a scrotal circumference of 39 centimetres.
He also scanned 10 millimetres and 7mm over the rump and rib, respectively, with 111 square centimetres eye muscle area and 6.3 per cent intramuscular fat.
The long-term client, whose family have bred commercial Herefords for more than 100 years, was "quite impressed" with the bull.
"I was firstly impressed looking at his photo online, how he walked, then he had the figures," he said.
"After talking to Geoff, who I trust, I was very happy with him."
Vulcan will be joined to about 30 heifers on May 1. Mr Fry sells cattle at the December Mount Gambier store sale.
He also bought 20-month-old Glenholme Vortext V144, sired by Lotus Quadrillion Q114, for $5000.
Michael and Sue Turra, Buchan, Vic, bought Kirraweena Vader V246 for $12,000.
Sired by Karoonda Warship Q926 and out of Kirraweena Queenie Q214, the 14-month-old bull weighed 595kg with a 37.5cm SC.
The youngest bull in the catalogue, he scanned 5.2pc IMF with 12mm rump and 8mm rib.
Mr Turra also bought Karoonda Warship Q926 son, Kirraweena Voyager V235 for $5000.
Other notable buyers included Dorothy Griggs, Braidwood; Tony Johnson, Koorawatha; KW & LP Coulston, Lucyvale;and Graham Butt, Muttama, who each secured two bulls.
All up, 19 of 24 bulls averaged $6167, while heifers sold to a top of $3000 and averaged $1801.
George and Helen Neilson, Grassy Mountain Hereford stud, Canowindra, secured 11 poll and horned Hereford heifers for $3000.
Long-term buyers Dennis and Deneice Griggs, Braidwood, bought seven heifers for $2050.
Kirraweena Glenholme Herefords' stud principal Geoff Bush said he was pleased with the result and support of repeat clients.
