All wether lambs, based on Barloo/ Woodyarrup bloodlines, found new homes

AWN hosted the annual online North Stirling Downs Wether Lamb Sale via AuctionsPlus last week, which proved to be a success.

WA-based backgrounders and lotfeeders had the opportunity to get their hands on quality, well-bred lines of Merino wether lambs bred and offered by North Stirling Downs Agriculture, Gnowangerup.

The sale featured an impressive online display of 3127 wether lambs based on Barloo/ Woodyarrup bloodlines for more than 50 years, with Wiringa Park genetics infused into the flock over the past 15 years.

The wether lambs, which were born from July 1, 2025 to August 15, 2025, were offered in five lines, which attracted plenty of interest in this year's sale.

During the sale, which lasted 35 minutes, the catalogue attracted 2190 views from 22 logged in users, six of which placed 136 online bids, which saw all five lots sell to three successful bidders.

All 3127 wether lambs sold for an overall average of $129.

Prices peaked at $161.20 for a pen of 294 Merino wether lambs, weighing an average of 37.8 kilograms, snapped up by Nutrien Livestock, Esperance agent Tom Page, at 426.5c/kg.

Mr Page also secured a pen of 581 wether lambs weighing an average of 33.8kg at 432.5c/kg and $146.20.

Selling for the highest c/kg price of 456.6c/kg, which equated to $113.24 a head, was the largest pen in the sale, made up of 842 wether lambs, weighing an average of 24.8kg, which was knocked down to a Great Southern account.

The remaining two pens were bought by Nutrien Livestock, Albany agent James Culleton, both made up of 705 head each, selling for $123.56 and 430.5c/kg each.

Both pens weighed an average of 28.7kg.
