Son of 'first season sire' sells for more than $100k at Carinya Garglen Sale

The Carinya Garglen Sale reached six-figure sums on three occasions at the Glenlands Sale Complex, Bouldercombe, on Tuesday, October 28.

Buyers from across Queensland, NSW and the Northern Territory saw bulls sell to $105,000 on the path to setting a $16,827 average for a 93 per cent clearance at auction for vendors, the Kirk family, Carinya stud, Gayndah and the Bishop family, Garglen stud, Moura.

In all, 84 of 90 bulls found new homes in a result that saw an extra seven bulls sell for a $1.413M gross and a reduction in average values of $1374 when compared to the previous year's result.

After sale negotiations saw clearance levels improve to a level of 96 per cent.

Sale topper was the 25-month-old, Garglen Benchmark X2588.

Benchmark X2588 was by 'first season sire', Garglen S Benton, and weighed 854 kilograms, had fat depth scans of 10 and 6 millimetres respectively for P8 and rib fat, 132 square centimetres for eye muscle area and 4.4pc for intramuscular fat.

Taking the market topper were Northern Territorian breeders, Tony and Michelle Hayne, NVS stud, Noonawah.

Two males made $100,000.

First of these was the 31-month-old Garglen S Icon X2765.

Picking up the son of the US semen import, Mr US Polled Evolution 409/5 was the Scott family, Rosetta stud, Collinsville.

Icon X2765 weighed 966 kilograms, had fat depth scans of 12 and 10 millimetres respectively for P8 and rib fat, 150 square centimetres for eye muscle area and 5.1pc for intramuscular fat. Icon X2765 was sold in a three quarter share full possession arrangement and will join three others for on average $38,750.

This figure included the $30,000 JDH Mr Music Manso 911/1 son, Garglen S Dixon aged 29-months.

The other to make the same figure was the two-year-old, Carinya M Stapleton 2940/4.

The son of the retained, Carinya M Tombstone came off the scales weighing 929 kilograms, produced fat depth scans of 13 and 10 millimetres respectively for P8 and rib fat, 141 square centimetres for eye muscle area and 5.2pc for intramuscular fat.

Securing the bull was Brett and Susan Kirk and family, Hazelton stud, Gayndah.

At $85,000 Carinya Dillinger 2643/4 sold to the Jodrell family, Delaym Pastoral Company, Delaym Station, Mingela.

The two-year-old NCC Brewster son weighed 947 kilograms, produced fat depth scans of 14 and 9 millimetres respectively for P8 and rib fat, 141 square centimetres for eye muscle area and 5.5pc for intramuscular fat.

Outside the top-selling bull, 31 bulls are headed to four Northern Territory addresses.

The Dyer family, APN Pty Ltd., Hayfield Station, Daly Waters, NT, signed off on 16 for on average $7688.

Nine went to Goonoo Goonoo Pastoral, Banjo Station, Katherine, NT, for a $8556 while Brett Cattle Company Pty Ltd, Waterloo Station, Katherine, NT, purchased four for on average $8500.

Ponderosa stud, Katherine operated by Paul and Debbie Herrod, Katherine selected a pair to average them $21,500 topping at $35,000 for the 24-month-old, Carinya M Cadillac 2927/4 (AI).

William Hobbs, Wharps, Ingham took home six for a $5000 average while the Condon family, Conjuboy Station, Mt Garnet claimed four for a $6500.

The Jacobs family, Mogul Stud, Casino, New South Wales outlaid $45,000 for a 25-month-old, polled scurred son of JDH Mr Encino Manso 612/6, Carinya M Enrico 2894/4 from the Carinya stable.

At the same figure Garglen R Houston 028 (BRC Mr Boom Box 38) sold to the Woodhouse family, Beeantha Station, Julia Creek.

Another at $45,000 was Garglen S Revolver X2776, a full flush sibling to the $100,000 Garglen S Icon X2765.

Taking possession of the bull was Clay Scott and family, Ruan stud, Collinsville.

Tropical Cattle stud, Ingham, will be the new home for the $42,000 Garglen R Jackson 017 (BRC Dutton 376/8) while William and Megan Beal, Mamillae stud, Victoria Plains selected the $32,500 Garglen S Willpower X2477.

Annaleise Zahl, Rumlea, Springsure secured the $32,000 Carinya Botticelli 2655/4.

Taking four for on average $11,500 was Peter and Dianne Hicks, Mulgrave Grazing, Gregory Station, Barcaldine. David Harch, Danarla stud, Wooroolin took with him the $30,000, Carinya M Mason 2882/4 (LMC LF Polled Hoss 108/9).

David Joyce, Plentiful Park, Gracemere selected a trio for a $16,667 average. These topped at $22,000 for Garglen S Ingelwood X2687 (Carinya Kirkwood).

Another taking three was the Roberts family, Karella, Springsure at an average $15,667. These topped at $20,000.
